The NCAA had to make a decision on UAB fairly early in the process due to complications involving travel for play in games and NIT seeding. We were done early on thursday. If they thought we were in at that time based on RPI, 9 true road wins, strenghth of schedule- I say they took us off the NIT board (as a conf. champion) and put us in the travel plans for play in games. We play Clemson on tuesday then play Cincy in Tampa on Thursday!

You have this from a source of some kind, or is it just conjecture?

Great news if true!
cincy will not be a 5 seed.. where r u hearing this
If you're in ACC and don't have a top-50 win, you shouldn't get in.

YEAH!

and while we are at it, don't count on the RPI either 03-shhhh

Its all about the eye test *massive eye roll*
Pure conjecture. Sorry about that. I figured since I said "I say"- you would know it was conjecture.
I still think our fate was decided early as a play in team to allow for travel arrangements.
One of the toughest jobs of this panel is timing of travel for tuesday/wednesday/thursday/friday playin teams.
They probably decided a couple of those teams early to remove some of the complexities of travel.

That would only matter if they notified those programs ahead of time so they could make travel arrangements. And said notification would leak out within seconds.
With all due respect to notnow, I believe he's talking out of his anal orifice.
They do not notify teams early for travel arrangements. There's always a mad rush to prepare.

There is some validity that they may have decided on us early because we run the regular season. If they slotted two spots for CUSA teams and then had to wait to see where they seeded them, then we would be in. I know they have said they don't slot teams by conference but judge on a team's individual quality. But in this case, I believe it was going to be either Memphis and UTEP or Memphis and UAB.

The committee has a lot of work to do during this weekend. I also recently learned that they have to select the referees for the tournament as well. So, some decisions have to be made early on. Hopefully, we were one of them.
I'm afraid C-USA is a one bid league this year, and we're not it.
Nailed it!
haha man that's exactly what i was thinking as they announced us. good call!
amazing nice call now how did u get this info

Pretty good call.
it was correct except coach Huggins coaching west virginia instead or cinci
Seriously... where did you get that info?
According to Smaug,I got it from my butt. But seriously, I evaluated following criteria offered by mock panel.
Also, NCAA lines up planes to handle tuesday teams. It made sense to me that Clemson would be decided early as well when they exited ACC tourney. Teams need to travel well to Dayton. Most do except USC. I am still amazed that USC got in along with VCU and Michigan and Penn St. Lucky?
My humblest apologies, sir.

I will never doubt you again. 03-lmfao
UAB wins tuesday!

I just spoke to the UAB faculty rep and he said that exact same thing about the planes and so forth.

Man, you were dead on!
