I think there will be at least a couple of upsets today. You could make a case for any of the underdogs but of course not all of them will prevail. I think that the "bye" do teams have the advantage in the later rounds, but tonight the advantage will be had by the lower seeds as they have had a game to get out thier opening game "jitters".
WKU/UL: WKU lost by three in a fantastic atmosphere down in Louisiana. Can the Cajuns do it again without the big home crowd? I am fascinated by the psychology of basketball... Does the 11 game winning streak start to work against the Cajuns?
NT/FAU: If FAU is going to be the champs they must beat the champs. Regardless of how thier season ended, North Texas has some nice players and they are on a mini roll, building some confidence and they have a shot at FAU.
FIU/MT: FIU came to Diddle for senior day last week. I remarked that FIU has some nice young athletes and it looked like to me that Thomas has them playing some pretty stout defense. Of course that is met by a chorus of IT can't coach and never will be able to. The addage about beating a team three times will be tested twice today in hot springs. I could be wrong and MTSU rolls, but given Kermit's propensity to drop the ball in the tourney, I think that this has the potential be a shocker.
UALR/ASU: Instate rivalry, stAte swept them in the regular season. I tend to think that this is the least likely of the upsets but still very much possible. Like I said, the "can't beat a team three times in one season" theory will be put to the test today.
So who is going to get the upsets?
