Just decided to start one.

Who is going to be our "man (or woman) in the tent (IPF)" with the scoop?

I noticed that we are going to be both very big (ave. 300 lbs) and deep in the OL.

Those heights/weights are pretty impressive.

Would love to see the 2-deeps on the OL.

As someone noticed, even Sorgatz's published weight is much higher then last season.

On offense, I'm curious if Benz will really contest the QB position during spring ball?

Then there is Marrow and when or how he plays.

Would love to see the 2-deeps for the LBs.

Def. backfield is tough as I wonder how much L. Thomas will play in spring ball AND many of the best h.s. recruits are DBs who won't start school until later.
Did I miss Buche on the spring depth chart? A lot of young talent in the 2 deep on the OL. WR's are young as well. Interesting that very few of the recently signed JUCO's were listed on the 2 deep.

SHOULD BE A LOT OF COMPETITION THIS SPRING.
Do not worry about Bridger...he is very much with the program. I personally saw him representing the team at the E-Club Hall of Fame ceremony just two weeks ago. He will be a vital part of EMU's o-line this season and will hopefully provide senior leadership to our bevy of talented young o-linemen.

Here is a look at some of the spring football weight changes on the offensive line compared to the previous season. It doesnt mean much, but I was bored. Take the weights with a grain of salt, because afterall...they are just weights. It does however give us a look into the direction each the coaches think the players need to go, and gives us a better look at how big the line is this year...

EMU Offensive Line weight changes

Player/2010 Weight/2011 Weight/Change

Josh Woods/303lbs/303lbs/0
Jordan Erbes/256lbs/275lbs/ +19
GARRETT PARKER--275lbs
Campbell Allison/354lbs/315lbs/-39
Korey Neal/294lbs/296lbs/+2
Shawn Sinawe/290lbs/294lbs/+4
Corey Watman/290lbs/294lbs/+4
Andrew Sorgatz/266lbs/280lbs/+14
Bobby McFadden/279lbs/290lbs/+11
Scott MacLeod/287lbs/290lbs/+3
Bridger Buche/312lbs/305lbs/-7
Lincoln Hansen/309lbs/303lbs/-6
Orlando McCord/295lbs/298lbs/+3

CAPS Player was not on team previous year
I wouldn't worry about the weights right now, Winter is when the team works on conditioning, Spring is when they pack on the pounds and summer they balance it out, so you might wait until the fall roster to gage true comparisons.

Yeah, thats pretty much what I said. What it does tell us, though, is the good size we have on our line...and by the looks of things, there are some kids working hard to shape their bodies for the upcoming season.
STEVE WAS RIGHT ABOUT ALL THOSE REDSHIRTRED OFFENSIVE lINEMAN, COULD TURN OUT TO BE A GREAT RECRUITING CLASS IN REGARDS TO OL'S.
My first blush on the 2-deeps:

NO surprise that Rose, Pollard, Cardwell and L. Thomas head the secondary (didn't need Watson, the computer, to guess that).

Sorgatz to center. I've been speculating that one for a while.

Buche to guard. Why? What does it mean????

Neal to LT. Why? What does it mean???

Appears to be a real shuffle moving the LT --> RG and the RT --> LT.

I did not see that one coming at all.

I was somewhat surprised to see the 2-deeps in the OL. I had been predicting Buche, Hansen, Sorgatz, McFadden, and Neal from LT --> RT.

I thought that Hansen and McFaddn had a leg up, but apparently the Canadian kid, Allison, is a surprise.

I had heard some good things about Woods so I'm not completely surprised by him.

The only other think of is that Hansen and McFadden might need to get stronger. Both are very tall and maybe they need more weight, strength and polish (It's not easy being say 6' 7").

The JUCO LBs (and Paopao) are in the 2 deeps at LB. No real surprise there.
Nice to have some depth!

Anyone have any comments or feedback from the springs 1st practice session?

LoL... You know...
I went yesterday thinking it was open to the public and the kid at the desk wouldn't let me in. I wasn't going to throw a fit about it. It sounded like they were working hard in that bubble though.

So I guess "on the line" doesn't mean open practice?

"During the spring practice period, the Eagles will be "On the Line" each Tuesday and Thursday afternoon and Saturday mornings at 10:30 a.m."

Haven't seen anything posted about the practice either.

"EMUEagles.com, the official web site of Eastern Michigan Athletics, will be providing in-depth coverage of the football program's spring practices with practice reports, audio interviews and video highlights."
I wouldn't get excited about the first practice. Doubt much of real interest would have happened and of interest to the public.

Maybe Saturday's practice might show some good drills, etc. which might suggest if there will be any surprises coming from spring ball.

If we see KPJ there with a stop watch ;-) then we know things are interesting...
BTW, I'm very surprised, and I think it is a good thing, that there has been no coaching changes and almost no player turnover...

Agree..maybe 3 players lost (2 frosh 1 soph), Looks like the remaining Genyk recruits have earned their stay.
I did stop by the practice today. I'm a huge fan of the bubble and can certainly see how it will help the program! The guys seem REALLY upbeat about things for the upcoming season.
The RB competition should be interesting.

We have two TEs until fall.

Yes Benz and the LBs should also be interesting follows this spring.
No surprise but Mike Marrow isn't listed in the online directory as an EMU student anymore.
There were 4 TE at practice yesterday
Hoskins
Demaster (looks to be hurt)
Bynum (moved from WR)
Gudejko (moved from LS)
