WMU 81
CMU 68

Going into CMU without Whitfield led some people to believe that WMU was in trouble. No matter the records, in this rivalry, it has been a home court series.

No problem today. WMU pg Mike Douglas followed up his perfect shooting night and career high 25 against BSU with 28 points today. Hands down the MAC West POW.

Great job today, Broncos!
I tidbit the rest of our MAC pals can chew on a little, is this. Our top seven players are all gonna be back. And today, without our best man on the boards-Whitfield- we still took it to the Chipandales 41-34 on the glass. Oh, our two Freshman today combined for 29 points and 21 rebounds. That would be Mr. Stainbrook and Mr. Howard ( this kid should get some serious Freshman of the year consideration) To all our friends in Muncie and Hooterville, there's always next year....
I'm not sure there is, BroncoJohnny. That's the point.

Have you seen how bad the MAC West really is???? This really isn't something to be proud of.
Its like finding the fattest girl at a party/ bar, taking her home, and bragging about it the next day.

Congrats. Your team isn't the only one with all of its players back. I'm sure that the Broncs will be voted the preseason favorite and we all know how that usually ends up.

If I had had to watch my team lose 15 of 16 conference games, I would probably be saying something much like that also. Sincere condolences.
Kent State returns all but one player, Akron returns its best two bigs, OU returns two double-digit scorers. Most of the MAC has significant players returning. This is where the MAC has to take advantage. We should be a top 15 conference at least, and that might be shooting too low.
We return a slew of guy who never played for us, kinda like this year.

We held our own against the East, unlike everyone else in the division. Yeah, the division sucks as a whole, but we're shooting to be quite a bit above that next year.

Agreed on getting the MAC back on the national scene is the push for 2011-12. Have the top teams play well out of conference in name games is nice. Equally important is to have the bottom teams get better and hold their own OOC. It doesn't do the conference any good to have NIU, EMU, Toledo, etc. struggle in early season matchups.

As usual, when talking about next year, Miami is never mentioned. Miami loses one Senior (Nick Winbush, very good player...we also lose Ballard, but we have played half the conference season without him) and we have a transfer ready to replace him, Bill Edwards, who started about 10 games for Penn State last year and averaged 5ppg as a freshman. Miami will, as always, be in the battle at the top of the league.
Dick, that's because a WMU fan was talking about WMU, then a KSU fan was talking about KSU. And now a Miami fan is talking about Miami. So three provinces have been heard from regarding next season. Nobody selling Miami short.

What I see is a mention that Kent, Akron, and OU will all be returning a lot and will be at the top of the league, so WM should not be getting too cocky. What I do not see is a mention of Miami, who finished ahead of Akron and OU and will be returning a lot. What I am also saying is that this seems to happen over and over again, year after year, yet when the final standings are in Miami always gets a bye and finishs near the top. I noticed the same thing when fans on here are discussing football next year. Miami is not really mentioned, despite winning the conference championship with a very young team last year. Well, we won one of the championships this year and lost the other one by a game. I fully expect the same type of results nest year.
Ball State doesn't want to be left out. They have all but one player back too.
Nobody for WMU is getting cocky...no WMU fan in this thread has talked about us winning the MAC next year, hell I dont even see anything based on our team next year. FrozenBaugh is the one that said we would be the MAC preseason favorite and not end up winning it...no one for WMU mentioned that.

In previous threads we are being optimistic just like how everyone else on this thread is. WMU will be good next year, Kent St. will be good next year, hell toledo will be improved next year. Next year is a make it or break it for next year for a lot of coaches

Well that seems to be common for several teams. Looking at various sites and magazines in the past decade Kent was often said to be going into a "rebuilding" year and should not end up at the top (like this year) and yet it has happened a lot. So don't worry being underestimated it seems to be a good thing in general.
