I can't believe I'm typing this, but maybe Rice should promote OC Major Applewhite to HC. I know he's really young, but he's been a major reason why Rice had such a good season. They don't want to be one-and-done if they hire from outside and the new HC brings in a whole new staff.
Could be. OTOH, word is that Applewhite was contacted by Saban about a job. Guess we'll see whether he wants a crack at HC more than experience at a SEC program.
Applewhite has been contacted by LSU too for their vacant OC job. He could also follow Graham to Tulsa. Let's just say he has options right now. It will be interesting to see how it all plays out.
Applewhite takes an unspecified job at Bama. I don't know where they turn now.
