Full Version: Does Grand Funk Railroad count as a Detroit band?

I'm arguing with my friend over this. He says no because they are from Flint. I say yes because Flint is often commonly associated with Detroit and they probably played a lot of Detroit venues while coming up.

Someone correct us, please.

People count Segur as a Detroiter although he's from Ann Arbor. Guess you'd have to ask GFR. I saw them in 1970- cost me 50 cents of my hard earned money and it was worth every penny (not much more but easily worth 50 cents).
Flint <> Detroit. Segar was from all over, even has Pt. Huron ties. Difference was, he claimed Detroit Metro as his. Farner and co never did.
I'm a westsider so if it's east of lansing it's all the same as far as I'm concerned
