Full Version: That Wacky Census

Here in Richmond, VA, the US Government apparently believes that the nearly 1500 inmates in City Jail are actually housed in the median strip in front of the City Jail. That's just one of the 95 separate errors that the City found in the Census data - and that's in a city of about 200,000. Imagine what might be going on in a small burg like Houston?

If it weren't amusing, it might actually be concerning if it's misplacing the locations of folks in other localities. (Norfolk, VA already found its own errors.) This data is supposed to be used to set new Congressional district borders, and who knows what lurks out there. On the surface, these seem harmless, but what else was screwed up in the data entry?

I'll assume it's benign for now, but other localities might want to look at the data to make sure it makes sense.
