Personally really looking forward to seeing Mumford & Sons
really strong lineup.
Horseshoe will be a hit on Friday and Sunday.
This is the best lineup I've seen in a long time. MemTigerFan...if you like Mumford and Sons, you should definitely give The Avett Brothers a spin.
Agreed that this is the best lineup we've had in years. Friday is going to be insane.
I see some good ones.
wow...mumford & sons, avett bros, cee-lo, flaming lips, lucinca william, luda?

might be enough to get me to get tickets this year.....and a babysitter, of course.
:)

hopefully that's the picture they used BEFORE proofreading. "Flamming Lips" .......
Cage the Elephant and STP. I'll be there Friday. It will be the first time I've gone in about 8 years.
I just noticed New Pornographers stashed at the bottom of Saturday. Excellent band and worth seeing. I don't think I'll make it though. I'll push my luck with the wifey at Itlaian Fest a few weeks later.

will do. someone else mentioned the same thing to me earlier. Hadn't caught them yet.
I'm not a big Music Fest person, but I'm very likely going to get tickets for at least Sunday. I could just camp out at the Horse Shoe Stage that whole day with a couple stops at the MATCU stage.

For fans of Mumford & Sons and the Avett Bros., there was a great article in the most recent Garden & Gun that profiled like 25 bands/musicians from the South that you should be listening to. Both those bands were on there in addition to other great ones, several of which i had never heard of.

That's funny, because they're a British band.
Well Southern influenced would have been a better way to put it than I did, but looking back they weren't in the list anyway. Guess I was remembering them being mentioned in an Avett bros article in the same issue.
I want a girl with a short skirt and a long jacket.
Def. a great lineup...better than many years past.

Here's to hoping we see minimal rain... /yeahright
Yeah, right. Get your mud boots ready.

I am thrilled with this line-up. Best one in years. Did y'all notice how many of these bands have Memphis-North Miss.-blues connections? Seems like about 60-70 percent.

Gregg Allman and Devon Allman and Jimmie Vaughn alone are worth the price of admission for me.

My tips: Gregg Allman and his amazing band put on a heck of a show at Horseshoe last year. He was personable, easygoing, and showcased his wide-ranging talent and songs and the talents of his band.
Devon Allman is a rocker in the best tradition of Southern Rock with his own special talents and, again, an incredible band.
Camping out in the Blues Tent never disappoints, but Hubert Sumlin and Wolfman Belfour are not to be missed, along with Tommy Castro, electric blues from Chicago. Super Chikan sounds silly, but his blues is rockin'; he is Old School at its best.
Everclear from the West Coast should be excellent.
The other acts I am most interested in seeing are MGMT, Will Tucker, Mumford, Avett Bros., and Lucero. Some hard, hard choices coming up!
I am always amazed when people pass up BSMF. What effort you put into fighting the crowds, the mud, the heat, the high food prices, and the porta-potties is magnificently rewarded by the incredible range of fantastic music you will hear over three days. If walking and crowds aren't your thing or present physical challenges, parking yourself in the blues tent is a good option, with shade and chairs and the best blues. To me, this is the absolute BEST WEEKEND in Memphis every year. If you haven't been in years, give it a try. You have no idea what you are missing. JMTC
every band I'd go down to see, I've seen several times (Avett Bros, Flaming Lips, JJ Grey,Greg Allman, Wilco).

not strong enough of a lineup for me to brave the insanity. To everyone going, have a good time.

I will be Friday night at the Beale Street Music Festival downtown with that lineup for it is so strong, it is definitely worth buying a ticket. I cannot skip it for it has a lot of good bands.
Wish I were still in Memphis, what a fantastic line up! Several bands I've been wanting to see, but haven't yet (Mumford & Sons, Avett Bros, Lucinda Williams) and a couple I've seen and know what put on a good show (Wilco, Lucero)
