I asked that question on BRZ.com because I don't really follow that much college baseball and I had never heard of Portland before. This is the response I got:

"They won 37 games last year. The pitcher that beat us Saturday was voted best WCC pitcher for the pre season. Closer is on the closer all-american watch list.

Hope their good, they swept us."

We're still kind of scratching our heads in Lafayette... We'll start over next weekend and right the ship.

Congrat to all that had big weekends!!

Louisiana started last year 12-14, but ended the regular season going 23-4... this series isn't much in terms of the entire season...

No problem. I know you said that for the UALR series you would count the first 3 games. If you did that then SFA won 2 and UALR won 1.

yeah, we know that...just kind of wondering how you come out opening night in front of SRO crowd and show 0 passion. Robe will get this thing turned around next weekend.
Nice series by your guys. Congrats!

SeMo is a very worthy opponent. They were in the postseason last year and they'll surely get there this season. No shame in dropping to them.

Thanks Z. I'm hoping that the Jags can go out in style for Kittrell's last season as coach. I remember reading an article that USA has been one or two games from reaching Omaha more than any other baseball team in history... I'd love for our boys to get him there his last season as skipper.

10 players (7 drafted) signed pro contracts after last season.

We have lost another 6 pitchers that we were counting on this season [3 to injury (2 Tommy John surgeries, one water ski accident), 2 kicked off team, 1 quit]

It's going to be a long season. Bullpen the worst I've ever seen at MT.

Anyone want to pitch for MT that has eligibility left ? We could use the arms.
