NO offense to my UAB team, but the teams that are in the running for the final at large spots are not good candidates. We can argue that we deserve to be in over some other team, but the resumes of all of those final at large teams are pretty bad.

Extending to 96 would mean that at least 1/3 to 1/2 of the teams are bad teams.

I believe they had no intention of extending to 96 teams. They just floated the idea out there so that 68 would be accepted better.
Definitely. And the NIT would be history...I'm against the 96 team proposal, it all but kills the "Cinderalla" Factor that makes the tournament such an intriguing event at times, but I get the feeling that this is what the selection committee and the sports media wants, to transform this tournament into a clone of sorts of BCS football.

Conference USA and other conferences of the same ilk will have no chance in he!! if that happens.
