Go to http://www.cfbdatawarehouse.com and click on "discontinued" to see the history of ETSU football, including the Tusculum vs ETSU games. It shows ETSU's usually growing athletic program up to the joining of the Southern Conference. Then, in 2003 the history of mostly forward motion was suddenly flushed with little or no regard for the past. In addition, I see the late 60's and early 70's as significant points. Look at some of those in football, from the seasons and results data, that ETSU was successfully competing against and where they are now and where we are now. Some significant opportunities were blown. But, with the revision of football, ETSU would have a rather rich history and past statistical comparisons in scheduling and playing some old friends again.
I would love to see football at ETSU again. I would, as I did before, buy season tickets and contibute to a football only fund.

My fear is how is ETSU going to fund a new football stadium and all the startup costs. ETSU has fallen so far behind our peer universities in the revenue sports, basketball and football. How can we ever catch up without major donors stepping forward to provide these funds. I know at one time there was an alumnus willing and able to donate millions of dollars if the university would reinstate football and pledge to fully fund the program at a level equal with Appy State, Georgia Southern, James Madison and other top 1AA programs. The donor also wanted a study done to move the program to a confernce such as, Sun Belt or Conference USA.

Do you have any info as to how the BFFF would propose getting the monies to start football, build a stadium and to move the program to a new conference? How does the BFFF get rid of the cronies that have for years and years kept the athletic department under thumb? If these two questions can't be solved, I don't see any chance of football or a better conference in ETSU's future.
