Well, they weren't all overhyped....................

Quote:The Chips came into this year as the golden class of the MAC. And why not, with Trey Zeigler anchoring the class, and several returning veterans, the Chippewas looked like a team that would compete for the MAC West. Picked by almost every media outlet as the team to challenge Ball State, the Chips have been the polar opposite of what was expected.

Great article. I remember being disappointed when Pershing lost prior to the finals last season, as I wanted to see Howard and Appling. I don't like the statement referring to Howard as "window dressing". If anyone was window dressing it was none other than Derrick Nix at the 2009 Finals against K Central. Appling should have been the Mr. Basketball that year. Nix was arguably a joke. But likely had a good regular season, however I still doubt he merited a Mr. Basketball award.
I dont think he was window dressing, but for the average fan it was the MSU bound Appling and Nix who were the stars of the show. I agree on Nix, a fat, slow, gimpy, bowling ball of potential, but not the number two guy on that team.
I think the fact that Nix got the award discounts the value of the award. Granted Appling earned it, as did Kool.
How is Dayton Flyer Delvin Oliver (did he reject WMU or the other way around) doing?
WOTS is Devin did not want WMU.

Dayton stats show DO has played in 21 of 25 games. 8.5 min per game. 1.4 points per game.
