looking good, will be exciting to see it when its finished.

curious what BG fans think of having only 5K seats in the new arena though, especially after the $10m donation to bball. seems like there's enough students and locals to justify a bigger arena.

I'm fine with 5K right now. I hope to see a day when there are lines for student tickets [see hockey in the 70's and 80's.] Nothing drives interest faster than scarcity. Ask my wife.
5k is perfect... if you can buy tickets day of you wont buy in advance... life gets in the way and you dont go... further if the team is good it forces season ticket purchases and pushes towards sell outs... makes students want to go... perfect size.
Yeah, there was just no evidence to support anything much bigger. It would have become cost preventive and would have just been to big for current demand.

FYI - IIRC, Bill Frack already gave $2 million to the Stroh Center and the court is named in his honor.

You are absolutely right. We should have built a new venue like Worthen Arena at Ball State University (capacity 11,500). Then instead of only 2,500 empty seats at a game, we could have 9,500 empty seats at each home game.

Make it the ticket for Northwest Ohio. Once it sells out for five years straight, then we can talk about raising season ticket prices or building a new arena.
Actually the seating is 4400
You don't build a church for Easter and Christmas.
In all fairness, when BSU build Worthen they were coming off a great run at their lil' old gym (Memorial Hall??) with Ray-Ray McCallum's teams. As I recall BSU was selling out every home game in the old gym, which seated 6800 as I recall (I could be wrong on that, so a BSU alum may have to help me out).

When BSU was first playing in Worthen, they were leading the MAC in attendance and were getting something like 7K per game..still, the arena (although beautiful as I've been there a number of times) is a little too big.....8K would have been about right I guess.
