03-puke
This will be the third year in a row that a Miamian will get a Super Bowl Ring. Two years ago it was Ben, last year it was half the Saints coaching staff, and this year it doesn't matter who wins.

MAC office has the count at 15 former MACsters going for the trophy.

Atari Bigby (UCF, remember them?) is a former MAC player as well.
Well, the media has two weeks to hype this thing. Someone should do a national story about the prominent role MAC alums are playing in this game (and have played so far in the playoffs). Cool to hear Tomlin actually mention CMU (antonio Brown) in his post game presser yesterday.

Go Starks!

Agreed.

Of course it would be nice to see the MAC take the lead to help their own cause.
It makes me wonder. How many players from each conference are in the super bowl? If we have the most, the MAC office had better be cranking out press releases ASAP. They should be doing that regardless, though, because of the role some of these players have had in their teams' successes. Maybe a localized TV ad during the super bowl itself (local ads aren't that expensive).

Get moving, MAC. With signing day just over a week away, you could help your members in their recruiting efforts. You can associate the pinnacle of football with your conference.

Yes- the MAC should be getting in the ear of USA Today and other national publications. I know The Buffalo News is drooling over Starks and have done several articles but only the locals read that paper.
You have to count Leftwich and Bigby. They played in the MAC.

To say otherwise is like saying that Ndamukong Suh played in the Big Ten or that Kordell Stewart played in the PAC-10.
The rule of thumb is count Marshall/UCF stuff when it is beneficial to the MAC to do so, which in this case, it is.
What is really impressive is how many players at the "skilled" positions are from the MAC.
The MAC needs to act fast and add a "splash page" to its web site for the next couple of weeks.

Thanks for that. I have to say that I'm impressed with the MAC number. It would be nice to see a little attention paid to this tidbit during the exhaustive ramp-up to the game.
You could always post it in each of the ncaabbs conference boards 05-stirthepot
Bump for this weekend

Happy Superbowl-watching and good luck to all MAC participants! It's been a long time since I've been so interested in watching this game.

It would be interesting to see how many of these were undrafted free agents vs drafted and if drafted, what round. I'd bet MAC players are generally undrafted which makes this even more impressive IMO.
EDIT: also, what recruiting ranking they had out of high school.
