For six decades, Findlay native William Frack has followed the Bowling Green State University men’s basketball team. Now, he is taking steps to strengthen the program for generations to come with a series of irrevocable trusts that have a combined value of more than $10 million.

Frack’s endowment will be the largest, single private gift in BGSU’s history. It is also the largest one-time gift ever designated to a Mid-American Conference basketball program.

Congratulations, we are all jealous.
I like the part about helping with non-conf sch
that would certainly help with recuriting & atten
as team improves, buying your way into CIT & CBI
before taking next step NIT & NCAA
Congrats to BG.
Congrats to William Frack and his love for BG, 10M!
That's fantastic. Congratulations to the Falcons.
Can you give a million or two to UB? You'll still have 8 million

And a couple mill for NIU leaves you with 6 million.

Course, NIU already has a practice facility. Full-size field, goal posts, stands, etc. It does get a little cold and snowy at times though. :snowman:
That's awesome! I really wish someone would step up with a gift like that for NIU so we can finally get an IPF started.

Kent has had an IPF since 1990, but the value of those is overstated mostly by those who don't have one but want one. It's nice to have, but it's not going to really change your football program. I have proof!

Kent doesn't have a football program, do they?

You tell me.
I was looking at NFL rosters the other day, and there were a surprising number of players from Kent State. So I guess they do have a program.

That's a bad assessment though. If Kent had somewhat of a football fanbase (the basketball fanbase is pretty good) and promoted football better than maybe it would be different. Having an IPF is huge if you are going to a bowl game and weather is bad. It is also huge for recruiting. Not all, but many kids like to be in awe when they take an official visit, and a nice IPF can give them that awe.

Finally, here is a perfect example of an IPF helping a program. I was recently told a story about a summer football camp at UT. Before the camp was to start a round of thunderstorms came through. If there was no IPF at UT the camp would have to be cancelled, but since there was an IPF they moved the camp inside and got to evaluate about 75 kids that they wouldn't have been able to without an IPF. And there is more to the story. They offered a kid after the camp, based on his performance at this particular camp. That right there is a perfect example of what an asset an IPF can be to a football program.

Thank you, thank you, thank you. Beautiful picture of the most beautiful sight in all of sports- The High Jump Pit! You have truly made my day!

Again, though I notice those white stripes spaced every ten yards in the Field Event area- what is that all about?

Well duh, the lines are for the high jumpers to measure their approaches. What else?
Pardon my ignorance, but what exactly is an endowment?

Oh yeah.

AS I understand it an endowment is a pot of money for a specific purpose- frequently one where the original fund is invested and where the principal is never touched and the interest is used to pay the bills. Some universities have such esoteric endowments as the QB position in football. Money could be used for recruiting QB, QB coach salary, QB equipment, scholarship for QB, etc but couldn't be used for a kicking net, for example. Donors can be pretty specific about how their money can be used. When I hit the lotto I'll be endowing the return of men's track and a seperate endowment for high jumpers.

Unfortunately, at this time I am not well endowed.

That's what she said.
