Rivals updated Zach Gholson from no stars to 3 stars which moves us into 4th in C-USA. As of now, 11 of our 16 commitments are 3 stars.

I'm eager to see how Coach Porter and his staff complete this year's class.
Marshall is only ahead of because of class size also we could have a top 3 recruiting class in CUSA this season
i am asking this because I actually have no idea, but, what is the highest class Tommy had while he was here?

I want to say 5th, but I could be wrong.
Tommy's highest class was 2nd in CUSA in 2004 never saw a top 5 class in the conference after that though. West never did have alot of 3 star kids (35 since 2002) sign, his classes ranked in the middle of the pack because of the numbers of kids he signed the 04 class only had 3 3 stars and 1 4 star recruit. The class that really hurt him was 2005 when we signed 31 kids and only 2 of them were 3 stars.

The worst year in 2005. I still cringe when I hear the name Billy Barefield.
The 17 signees in 06 wasn't that great either
0 stars means he is unrated, not that he is really 0 stars. Going from 0 to 3 means they finally rated him, and thought he deserved 3 stars.

...still it is unusual for a Memphis recruit to gain stars. Our history is that once they sign with us they lose a star.

So he could have been -1 star? Thats a 4 star swing.

You get an auto 2* just for signing a D-1 scholarship

You think Porter being a former Rivals recruiter of the year has anything to do with getting guys evaluated quickly? It's happened twice this year when I can't recall it happening in the past... other than lowering the rating.

Apparently he was well-regarded before he got here. Great thread.

Like any recruit, it seems the posters get fired up about what a "great get" a player is. I think there is one recruit this year that Memphis is going up against Elon and Martin, and if Memphis gets him it will be quite the catch.
