Belmont is destroying DL right now. They are up by 36 with 8 minutes to go in the game. If anyone stays within 20 of Belmont I will be surprised. I think Belmont will go unbeaten or at worst 1 loss during the regular season. I hope they fold and am wrong, but I doubt it.

The Belmont fans are giving our buddy Josh Slater a real hard time every time he touches the ball. He is one annoying player.
DLU couldn't guard a lineup of myself, Gold, swvabucsfan, Rodshaw, and fan1.
Belmont by 41 now, mop up time.
Rod has a crossover like you wouldn't believe.
Hodzic's streak of 72 straight double figure games is in serious jeopardy - only has 5 points with 4:20 left and Lipscomb is down by 39. Uh oh, he is on a tear. He now has 7 points with 3:45 to go. Maybe he will get it if Sanderson leaves him in against Belmont's 3rd and 4th string.
This is actually kind of scary.
Strange that Belmont is playing more of their starters than DL up by 38. Hodzic may have finished with only 7 as he is riding the bench.
Hodzic string is over and Belmont wins by 36. Barry Booker says Belmont looks like they will continue to mow down the conference competition and glide into the NCAA tournament. I can't argue with him at this point.
I don't care what anyone says. This is the best Belmont has been since we've been in the A-Sun and the best A-Sun team I've seen since we've joined. They are totally obliterating almost every mid-major opponent they play. It's not even close when you play them.
I don't see how anyone could argue the above point. Who was a better team? Gold says our early ASUN team, but I just don't see how it was better than this. Our Tiggs and Pigram team wouldn't match up with this Belmont team I am afraid.

Maybe so - their 2 headed post of Hedgepeth and Saunders is doing a little better than Boomer Herndon/Preston, with over 21 points and 11.4 rebounds between them. They have terrific balance with solid guard play from Clark, Hanlen and Johnson; Jordan Campbell giving a fine senior year as a swingman and a slew of hustling players with good size who can shoot. Their overall numbers are certainly better.

Perhaps the only thing that they lack is a killer "go-to" guy like Justin Hare or Alex Renfro. Sophomore Ian Clark is not that guy yet - in fact his numbers a little reduced from last year, although still very good.

Which brings up another possible weakness. This is still a very young team. Only Jordan Campbell and Jon House are seniors. But they certainly play with a lot of poise and maturity.

Last year FGCU beat them twice by swarming them with physical aggressive athletes (Kyle Marks, Derrick O'Neill, Anthony Banks, Reggie Chambers - all but Banks now gone). I don't see anybody in the ASun doing that this year.

Without Tommy Hubbard, and with no help on the horizon from JUCO's Curtis Wilkinson and Anthony Johnson, the Bucs are facing them with essentially last year's personnel, switching Mike for Tommy (better shooting from Mike, but less physical defense than Tommy). Isiah has played better, and Sollazzo has raised his game. Justin Tubbs still hits big highs, but his overall numbers are down a bit from last year. Sometimes we play like the first half against UNF. Sometimes we play like the second. We'd need a hustling, physical 40 minutes in which we also shoot well from 3 (one of Belmont's weaknesses is that they do not defend the 3 very well, allowing .357) to win against those guys.

Nope b/c I'd be armed.

No I haven't really seen them play this year so I am reserving judgment on *this* years Belmont team. But all Belmont teams that come before this year have been seen and judged. I think Belmont comes to the dome next week?
David Lipscomb is a two-man team, and only one of them plays 'D'. JU mitigated Hoznic's damage; Belmont completely neutralized him. Both JU and BU clamped down on Hoznic, daring the other players to shoot. Other DLU players did shoot, and clanked shot after shot.

If you think DLU is bad this year, just wait until next year.
Wow.... I just now realized that Belmont has been running a clinic all season. They have around 8 wins so far this season that are at/near 30 points above their competitors. Looks like we could have a little trouble in the dome soon.
Belmont is now getting vote(s) in the Coaches Poll.
A vote. Better than nothing I suppose.
As of this moment, 3 OVC schools are receiving votes in the Mid-Major top 25:

Mid-Major poll

.....while Belmont is "only" 18th. Also, JU is 31st, and two SoCon schools are in the top 25 - C of C and Furman. It will be interesting to see how this changes later today as a new poll is taken.....
New poll just out and Belmont is now #16........

I suspect the link I posted earlier will now give the current poll...

Just shows how top heavy that conference must be. They are 30 out 31 in Conference RPI.
