I didn't think it did- but Tennessee is 0-2 without Pearl. St. Louis is 0-3 the last week without Majerus. I figure the assistants work with the coach everyday in practice and are going to be pretty much on the same page. The game plan is done in practice before the game. The plays have been worked on for months. I can't imagine it will make much difference tonight, but it will be interesting to see. It's possible Joe might like a particular player a lot (Derrick?) and we may see more of him. In the end, this is a game we should win no matter who is coaching.
I think it depends. I think it all boils down to personality and leadership abilities. Sometime a coach has the skills to look at how a game is going, ask advice from his/her assistants, and then make the proper adjustments. That's why some are long time assistants and not coaches because the mental aspect of player rotations and changing game plans in the middle of battle. Some folks can't delegate, take advice, and admit mistakes so they tend to stick to a failing plan in midst of the battle. I guess coaching is like alot a professions. In my daily work I see folks that make great bank CFO or COO but you wouldn't want them to be the President/CEO.
If game management is critical it does, but here's hoping it won't matter tonight.
NO
Players get used to a particular coach's style during a game. I would guess that a different coach takes a little getting used to.

I hope Joe uses his own style, regardless of what it is, and not try to copy Steve's style. Each coach needs to be his own man, even if it's for just one game.04-cheers
