FOX6 Sports learned Thursday that a planned interview between UAB and Fisher was scrapped, partly because some trustees were concerned with Fisher's salary request of nearly $600,000 per year.
Fisher is currently the offensive coordinator at LSU.
Other sources now say the top candidate for the UAB job is Neil Callaway, an assistant coach at Georgia. He was interviewed Wednesday by UAB officials.
Tyrone Nix is also considered to be a possible canddiate

I do not like the idea that best result of our "national search" is the ethically-challenged OC at UGA.

With NC as HC, UAB might end up taking the NCAA probation route to team building. UAT and API usually get pretty good results (well API, anyway) from that. lmfao

I don't like that we can't even pay 600k for a freakin coach.

Dr. G: Well coach, here's the deal, we're going to hire you on at 400k for the paperwork, but if you do really good next year, then we can get you up to 600k. That's what we wanted to do in the first place anyway, but the BOT won't approve until you've shown you're worth it.

Coach: That's pretty lame.... It's cool, I had parents strict parents too once (hearty chuckle). Lets do this!
