Chad under contract for 2011 and other things

One of the more interesting sagas late in the season was whether the Bengals would pick up the last year of Chad Ochocinco’s contract. It was indeed picked up … perhaps as far back as ’07 according to a copy of the contract file.
So the fact of the matter is that Ochocinco is under contract for ’11 for $6 million which is the final year of the extension he signed in 2006. However since all the bonuses are paid from that extension, the Bengals could trade or release Ochocinco since all the guaranteed money has been paid.
As to the matter of “As the Coaching Staff Turns”, there are many different rumors out there from no one will be let go to at least one already gone. Without going into the various complications, no moves officially have been made or announced.
However we are safe to say the following – Between a 4-12 record, the is Marvin Lewis staying or going saga, the most painful press conference in history and talks about the stadium deal with the county falling apart, this could be one of the more frustrating first weeks of the offseason in team history. And if the folks at WDR picked up a boatload of new followers this week and you feel like you want to pull your hair out, I can’t say I blame you.
