GREENVILLE, S.C. (April 13, 2011) – The ETSU baseball team picked up its sixth straight win as the Bucs downed Furman 12-9 Wednesday night at Latham Field in Greenville, S.C. Senior Paul Hoilman (Johnson City, Tenn.) became the Atlantic Sun career home run leader in the contest with his 59th homer since 2008.

Junior Bo Reeder (Cookeville, Tenn.) was phenomenal for the Bucs (22-9, 11-5 A-Sun) going a perfect 4-for-4 at the plate with four RBI as he only needed a triple for the cycle. Reeder also took over the national lead in saves with 13 on the year as he threw a scoreless ninth to close out the game.

ETSU outhit Furman (17-18, 7-7 SoCon) 12-11 as the Bucs saw three starters post multiple hits.

#1 ETSU (A-SUN CHAMPIONS)
#2 Mercer
#3 FGCU
#4 UNF
#5 Jacksonville
#6 Belmont

#7 Stetson
#8 Lipscomb
#9 Kennesaw State
#10 Campbell
#11 USC Upstate

We can trash these projections now -- as well as mine. The ETSU @ Mercer series to end the year will likely be an "elimination series" to get to the A-Sun tournament.... and to stay alive in postseason discussion.
I see we added Clemson to the schedule for this year. Is it common to add teams midseason? I hope we destroy them

I doubt we destroy Clemson; they're easily one of the top ten teams in the country right now. But games aren't won on paper, so anything could happen, but in a one night stand in Clemson will be tough to say the least.

Still, the Bucs are riding some momentum, having won seven in a row after beating NC State 5-1 last night in Long John Silver's first complete game of the year. Trent went yard as part of a 2/3 day with 3 RBIs, and Reeder went 2/5. The fact that we did positively bupkis against their bullpen concerns me, but another good performance out of Bushey today could be enough to give us an edge.

I figured it would give us that edge, but I didn't think it would win us the game. A CGSO for Bushey in a 2-0 win over the Wolfpack.
A couple of good wins in a row against a team in the top 40 in the RPI. The Bucs right now are 30th. I've kind of doubted all year that this was legit, but after 2 wins in a row against a quality ACC team, I may have become a believer.

Exactly my feelings also. Keep going Bucs and pour it on!
The Tigers absolutely mauled Freeman in the 5th. Hindsight is 20/20, but I think Skole should have pulled the trigger on Rissman a little sooner.

In unrelated news, Belmont put up a 19-spot on UT-Martin in the first inning yesterday, setting an NCAA record. Martin's not that good, but suddenly I don't feel so bad about being swept by the Bruins.
Bucs baseballers who could double as hoopsters?

good hops on the diamond
ETSU pretty much assured itself an at large bid with a win over #8 Georgia Tech tonight. Great job Bucs!
I really think there should be more talk about the baseball team on this board. Just knocked off Ga Tech tonight 8-6, I hope they making the tourny

Really?? I thought we had some bad losses...I know we have some good wins and we're playing well late, but we're 4th in the A-Sun right now
Not really. RPI will be in the top 30 after it updates tomorrow.

Here are our records against RPI rated teams.

1-50 5-6
51-100 3-4
101-200 19-7
201+ 8 - 0

We are only 2 games out of 2nd. We could get there after this weekend.
was there anything in the JCP about us beating Ga Tech?

I'm afraid to ask but how is the new baseball stadium coming along?
