if Indians is no longer politically correct, how about Trojans? I would bet that most people, when they hear the name Trojans, their first thought isn't about some mythical wooden horse. I would love a name change to something really spiffy, like the Rocketmen, Rocketeers,or Rockets.

UALR Rocketeers. Has kind of a neat sound to it. Combines astronauts with Al Capone's Chicago. Mascot? Guy or gal in an astronaut suit, but with an Al Capone style hat, and running around the arena with a cigar in their mouth. That would even more unique than an ugly Hog. Logo? Image of the Rocketeer firing a Tommy Gun. Wow. What a concept. Chris, are you listening?
Lots of Trojans around. Southern Cal and Troy come to mind immediately.

You just have to be tough, like the boy named Sue. Or the Winslow Squirrels.
I know about the boy named Sue. You've stumped me with the Winslow Squirrels!

Little community in the mountains south of Fayetteville. I think the school may have been consolidated out of existence by now.
I love the Winslow Squirrels. Wouldn't want Squirrels for our nickname, but it is sort of cute. I guess squirrels can be sort of vicious.
i like Rockets. The only teams that come to mind with that nick are the Houston NBA franchise and LR Catholic.

But I am traditional and don't see where a change is necessary.
It seems that many are calling for a makeover for our basketball program, so as long as you're making changes, why not the nickname. Create a whole new image. The old one sort of conjures up mediocre, not excellence.

When Newell was here I was on a committee with some "movers and shakers" who talked about a name change. I really can't recall what Mike's opinion was. Chris has invested a lot of time and money into our new logo so I'm sure he wouldn't consider a change. Doubt it will ever happen, regardless.
Probably not as long as Chris is the AD.
We've Trojans etched into just about everything at The Jack. In that regard, changing mascots would be very expensive.
We could use the same logos. Just call them something else.
What, the "Chopped Off Head Dudes"..? I think we're good with Trojans.
Guess we'll just have to live with it.

Solid thinking right there.

The company I work for has changed names twice in the last 15 years. Yep, it is expensive.
The best business to be in is the sign business if you have the monopoly on bank signs. One bank on the corner of Foxcroft and Cantrell has changed names about four times in the last 10 year.
