2 years can make? 2 years ago it seemed that Watson steadily built the program up and after acheiving #24 in the BCS, it started to go downhill. Ever since Watson got "lei'd" in Hawaii, it's been freefalling since. Now it seems as if there's a bottomless pit.

Man, I bet he wishes he'd retired 2 years ago so that we could remember Watson in a good way.

Actually, the freefall began once we received that BCS ranking. We went 2-5 (including bowl game) the rest of the season and since then have gone 8-15.

So, since we were ranked #24 in the BCS we have gone 10-20. Outstanding.........NOT!!

I've always thought the free-fall began with the 2004 Tulane fiasco. We were literally knocking on the door of the BCS rankings after the TCU win.

Does anybody else think that the 10-20 record since the #24 BCS ranking has something to do with the inflation of players' egos as a result of the BCS ranking? What else could explain this? It's like our football program peeked and immediately headed straight for the toilet at the moment that we entered the BCS rankings.

Maybe for a game, but not for 2 seasons.

I don't believe it is the player's egos, but Watson's. The classes of 2004 and 2005 have moved on, with the classes of 2008 and 2009 coming in. Nothing has been accomplished in the past 2 years.

I still occasionally ask myself, "How the hell do we score 55 points and lose?" 03-weeping

Actually, the arrest was before the TCU game. Although, that may have been the beginning of the end.

Pat Donahoe was arrested the Fri. before we defeated Miss St. Didn't seem to bother the defensive line that day.

I thought that sounded like a reasonable explanation at the time. I gave Watson the benefit of the doubt numerous times over the years but that changed when one of our players "guaranteed a win" last season prior to the UTEP game. The same thing happened the following week when we were getting ready to play ECU. This type of behavior really made me angry because it gave ECU extra motivation to win the game and keep us from making a bowl game. This reflects the lack of discipline in our football program. IMO, the players should shut up and play. Trash talking during the game is one thing, but trash talking in the media about your opponent should not be tolerated! It makes us look like a thug program like Miami-FL.

Did the players actually do that?

I never heard confirmation from anyone I would trust.

Thanks, I couldn't remember exactly when it was (I was a casual fan at the time). I just knew it was before the TCU game because the ESPN crew was discussing it during one of the 1,000 times they showed Bolt.

Gotta admit, ESPN and the camera love Bolt! lmfao

Bet they don't anymore since he supposedly lost all of that weight.
