Amidst all the UAT/Rich Rodreguez bruha, had Raita on discussing UAB, and said there would be further discussion on it later this afternoon (for those who care to listen).

I was in and out of the room for Raita, but it seemed they both thought WB's coaching days at UAB were over. Finebaum of course took his digs at CZG and IADRM, calling them, his word, "incompetent" to conduct a coaching search. (Got the impression he thought UAB needed an AD more than a football coach)

Like I said, what I heard was pretty spotty, but those are the impressions I got.
I was listening. Raita backed off any statementhe made about watson staying next year. He was also saying that the word on the street was that watson torpedoed sully with the help of folks higherup,"one ina particular." Same stuff we've heard for a week now.
Finebaum, "I can't imagine that Watson Brown can show his face in this town again. I really can't." 04-jawdrop

Finally got the idea that Watson threw Sully under the bus. Still tiptoeing around Cubby Bryant.
Those reports yesterday were all based on info from the team meeting. I take that to mean it was what Watson told the players and what they interpreted that to mean. I don't believe anyone has said definitevly that Watson will be back next year, what has been reported is that Watson told his team he was the head coach, and he would stay that way until he felt he was doing that job or untill people higher up decided to make a change.

I think that now that everyone has calmed down a little, most think that was typical coach-speak and has little or no bearing on whether or not he actually does come back.
HOLD THE PRESSES!! FINEBALD HAS DECLARED THE PRESIDENT INCOMPETENT.

What a clown. It still gives me hope that someday I can get a sports talk show if somwone with such marginal talent and intelligence can get on the air. Not only get on the air but be "one of the twelve most influential sports talk shows in the country". What really gets me is that people can be influenced by this snake oil salesman. I think the correct term is "sheeple".
Like him or not, he is pretty influential in the sports world of Alabama. His finally discussing it only brings more pressure to bear on the situation, which is bad for Watson and good for the rest of us.

There has been bad blood between Finebaum and PCG for some time. Like him or not, he is frequently correct and makes a bunch of money talking about others. That is what he does.
Well, given the choice...I don't like him. As far as being influential, so are a lot of other people I don't like.

Fair enough. Fact is, I don't like him either, but it's like a trainwreck on the radio. I can't seem to look away.
What he should remember is that incompetent president is the head of a university that has a $3 Billion annual economic impact and is the largest employer in the state.

Don't get me wrong... I really like PCG and the job she is doing, however if we hired WB as President, we could then say the same about him.
From what I heard the other day he seems to like taking shots at her for what I gather (from reading between the lines) was a personal relationship with the former Louisville and Tennessee president.
Of course he likes taking shots like that...

1) it has nothing to do with the job she's doing

2) she's not there to offer rebuttal or just generally B^%$ slap the guy's shiny noggin
I think Garrison has done a fantastic job at UAB and will continue to do so. I think that if she's allowed to run a coaching search without the BoT handcuffing her, she'll find us a fantastic head coach. I think the vast majority of the current mess this situation seems to be is Watson's and PBJ/BoT's doing.

Unfortunately, PCG had a misstep along the way. If what others on this board have said is true that after Watson Brown turned down the AD job last year and again after the MissStake game, then she should have begun the AD search that second. It's pretty obvious he never wants to be a full-time AD. And if he ever is a full-time AD, it will be temporary as he looks for another coaching job.

The MissStake game was what, end of September or beginning of October? I say by the time Thanksgiving rolled around, she could have had someone lined up ready to take over. Season ends against UCF. Monday she announces the firing of Watson Brown, Tuesday she announces the hiring of said AD, who has already begun putting out feelers in the coaching community on who would be interested in the job. By now we've already got a new head coach and are having a blast laughing our asses off at that unfortunate school down the road who have passed down their list and are trying to find someone to take the job.
