I just tuned in and the dude was picking FIU. Also picked against Ohio.

Oh, well. Picks are just that. As I like to say, that's why they play the games. As fans we can b!tch and moan about not getting better matchups for our teams, but until MAC teams step up and win some bowl games, our teams will continue to get dissed.

Did I miss anything or does nobody else give a rip about what some ESPN talking head has to say?

I'd say their credibility is alot more than the clowns on the Bleacher Report.

At least ESPN has some basis for picking Troy. Ohio has only been to a bowl game four times in its entire history and lost all four games. Troy is making their fifth trip to a bowl game in the last seven years. Troy has only been playing 1-A football since 2004, and they already have a blowout bowl win over Rice in New Orleans to show for it.

This year's FIU team is the best they've ever fielded. Just because FIU is in the Sun Belt Conference doesn't mean that it cannot beat the 3rd best team in the MAC. If a 6-6 FAU can beat a MAC Champion in Central Michigan at a bowl game in Detroit, I think even this FIU team can beat Toledo in the same bowl game.

I certainly don't expect Miami of Ohio to score 56 points on MTSU which is being predicted by the Bleacher Report. MTSU's Dwight Dasher is almost due a break-out game. Miami of Ohio cannot afford to overlook MTSU even though everyone out there seems to think that MTSU doesn't stand a chance.
As one who really didn't think Miami was really all that good, I watched that offensively challenged team play a very good NIU team and physically dominate them on the line. Haywood has done a great job this year and if the same Miami team shows up, MTSU might have trouble getting their offense going. If it's a shootout, Miami loses hands down.

ESPN talking head just picked MTSU, says they have better athletes.

They just picked NIU to "pull out the upset." Says Fresno will not be up for playing them as they prefer taking on bigger prey (my phrasing).
Does anyone have numbers on our MAC bowl record when we have lost our coach vs keeping our coach through the bowl game. Seems like we have 1 or 2 bowl teams per year with coaches leaving. Of course we've also had a couple non bowl teams in recent years ( Buffalo, Temple ).

Actually FAU did not beat a MAC Champion in Central Michigan. FAU beat CMU when they finished 2nd in the MAC West behind the team that lost to Buffalo in the MACC Game that year. CMU went 8-5 that year, 2008, losing the last three games of the season against Ball State, Eastern Michigan, and then FAU.

Good point. I didn't fully research that. I just figured it was assumed since CMU under Dan LeFevour seemed to be THE team of the MAC over the past four years.

Yeah, they won 3 MAC Titles in 4 years.....that was the one year they weren't quite as good.
One of the reason's FAU was able to beat CMU was their DL play under Coach Eli Rasheed. Coach Rasheed is now at UT.

Please explain how two games in the 60's have any bearing on this season.

OU's passing game does. Lack of a passing game makes it alot easier to
defense the Bobcats.
Plus, those guys who played in the other bowl games are in their 60's now, and they have really slowed down. I don't see how OU has a chance!

CMU is 2-0 recently in bowl games soon after their coach leaves (Kelly and Jones). The bowl games were won by the Mighty Quinn and Steve Stripling.
