This is a program that has 2 National Championships in the last 5 years. They have a top 10 recruiting class almost annually. By no way, shape, or form am I into moral victories, but we are not as awful as you guys make it out to seem.

I assure you, this team is fine. They appear to be the best team in the MAC right now and still have 3+ months to get better. Come off the ledge folks. We are all good.

Very well said. I couldn't disagree more with FlashFreak about this game being a debacle. The Flashes gave Florida genuine problems in the first half, but UF just has way too much talent, veteran stars, and a very good coach. I thought KSU would lose by 30, and while I'm not into moral victories, the fact that they kept it close and made a brief run in the second half, is fine with me.

Ah, according to these guys, Geno worked as an assistant coach under Jim Christian in the 2001-02 season. Makes me wonder what knowledge I partake of when I watch a game with a team I truly don't know anything about.

Macklin is a big time post. We have no answer for that. He and Tyus(?--the guy who had about 20 dunks) were too big and effective. Could we have done better with them? Sure. But only to a degree. We do not have top 20 talent. Day in and day out, those guys would own us. Our bigs were having to alter their offensive moves because they were getting stuffed.

On the other side, not only is there no one we face in the MAC that dominant, Greene is the dominent one that other teams can't handle.

It was good our guys got a talent check. We could have played better and made a close game of it. I was not impressed with too many other UF players, but they played within their abilities probably better than they have all season and we made some very uncharacteristic unforced blunders. I think this game give us confidence. I don't see another team in the MAC that could have been within 20 of UF on a good night.

Hey axeme this is oldfan here, how are you...my dream come true, big guys inside, from what I've seen of the MAC so far there wont be many teams who can handle Kents inside game and these big gurds driving to the bucked will be a plus.... vs Florida they got out skilled inside, Manns is a good kid but he needs to figure out how to hold on to the ball. he gets the rebound and loses it, he reminds me of Edwards when he was a soph. wish he was frosh...(Manns is lots quicker than Edwards) and Green just got flustered last night, I don't know if this kid knows how good he is, he had that mid turn around jumper going last night I just did not understand why he didn't keep taking it, that forward from Florida was not going to out that far to get him...oh well I'm no coach...lol...
AlphaFlash, my sentiments exactly! Long ago I realized I have to independently check all the "facts" those guys spew out before I dare assume thay are accurate or repeat them. I'm sure Mr. Carducci can be trusted, however.

Just to rehash the past a little, of Q, Fisher, Youngblood and Tyree Evans, none of them stepped on the court and were "players" immediately. The only guy I can recall putting on a uniform and being a go-to type of guy was Antonio Gates.

Well, Q and Fisher had D1 experience, so the gap wasn't as great. Q was just inconsistant his junior year, but clearly he could play. I agree with your point though, JUCO guys need to get used to the speed of D1. Even if they come from top notch programs like Mott, they are not used to this.

The other key is the coaching side. Geno has to get everyone to roles where the team can have maximum success. IMO, Porrini does too much, but he is a good player. Maybe Sherman needs to think a little more offensively instead of being so unselfish. Maybe a little less Manns and a little more Nealy. Maybe getting the freshman into roles where they are most comfortable. I don't know for sure, but the talent is there and Geno needs to mold this into the best team possible.

I am still encouraged. I think UAB and Florida both featured big men of the likes that Kent won't run into in the MAC. Also, UAB's point guard was darn quick and I don't see too many in the MAC like that.

Old Fan - great to have you back. I was thinking of you when the season started (knowing you'd be happy with KSU's size). Agree completely on Manns. He just can't grab/catch the ball in traffic. Fumbles it away a lot. He was progressing the first 4-5 games but has struggled lately (against really good bigs).
