Which is why these are audiobooks. Someone reads them to you. I listen while I'm driving, just close my eyes and follow along.

It's fun. You make your own path.
Damn!! I looked at this too late. My Dad is legally blind (Macular Degeneration) and this is one of his few forms of entertainment. Especially, the unabridged.

NO you didn't! It was extended, I just didn't think anybody cared. The code is: BESTOF2010. It's good until the 13th, I think. Should be free shipping as well. I know I saved 41% on my order. Tantor.com. These and Blackstone Audio are the two best unabridged publishers.

I only wished I knew how to listen.

I make excuses for driving places just so I can listen some more.

Audio book/ebook lending service provided by public libraries in Tennessee. If you have a library card from a small town library (I don't think the large metro libraries participate in this program) then you can check out books free. Worth a look.

My son lives in Nashville and it seems they have a lot of The Teaching Company series, which are fabulous. Another great freebie: http://www.librivox.org. These are older books where the copyright has run out, read by volunteer readers, but if you want A Christmas Carol to listen to, it's there.

The Deal for Saturday, Dec. 18th: The Teaching Company is taking an additional 15% off every course, no minimum purchase. http://www.teach12.com/greatcourses.aspx

I may have to spring for 'Daily Life in Ancient Pompeii', DVD, 24 lectures.

This special does not include free shipping, which is kind of expensive at about $10 per course, but the 15% off will cover most of that. For those who don't know, these courses are taught by college professors on a huge variety of subjects and they are uniformly fascinating. CDs available on most courses for listening in a car, DVDs for others. I've listened to three full courses so far, Ancient Egypt, Ancient Greece and Ancient Rome, all were great.

Bumping my own post for this. Same deal as above for the next four days on all CD sets, 15% off over $75, WITH Free shipping. That's about the best deal I've ever seen. 75% off all courses, which is normal, another 15% off over $75 total, with free shipping. This is a deal. Code for the next 4 days is SRDY.
I would get some, but I usually just look at the pictures in the books I buy.
