First of all Brandon Moore left the game early with what mercerbears.com reports as an elbow to the nose. He looked to be in some real pain on the bench. Did not return, and really hope he is OK.
The game was neck and neck, even without Moore. Which is a positive sign. Mercer even lead by at least 6, and I think 8 in the second half. (was tied at halftime).
The starting lineup was a new mix -- Freshman Bud Thomas started, and so did Senior Mark Hall for a change. Jeff Smith did not start for some reason.
Bud Thomas looks like he'll be good after some more development.
One huge concern is O'Shaughnessy. With all the highly touted recruits I don't know why he keeps coming in (4 fouls, 2 TO's in 8 minutes).
Paul Larson notably absent from the floor. He must either be hurt or doing something wrong off the court. He's too good not to play, especially with Moore out.
Gollon looked good, EXCEPT for the turnovers. If he keeps giving them points like that it won't matter what he does elsewhere.
So a lot to build on, but still major work to do on the lineup + rotation.
