So even though we didn't get what we wanted with a head coaching change, Schumann is getting the ax. What do you all think we can do with a possible improved defense? I'm one of the many who is incredibly disappointed with the Brass at UAB, but are there any positive outcomes from this decision?

Who in their right mind would take the DC job at UAB?
Here comes the 15 topic barrage because people can't read the forum list.

Well, Houston got a new DC and they still suck.
Doesn't matter to me. I won't be watching the bull 01-rivals .
Who in their right mind would give Neil Callaway a contract extension?
I don't care about the joke called UAB football anymore.

How much are tickets to the Atlanta Falcons?
I feel like I've just received a swift 03-nutkick from the UAB Athletic Dept. Football is in the crapper here at blazernation.

PBJ and the BOT03-weeping
I don't know who we could get as a DC that would be better than Schumann. The good news (such as it is) is that finding someone worse is damn near a statistical impossibility.
Ok, Ok. So really, if you look at this from an unbiased stand point. What has Callaway done to deserve this? In my opinion the blazers were a hell of a team this year with 2 exceptions. Defense and special teams. So Schumann is gone and according to the report there are stipulations for a special teams coach or so to speak. So Minus those two aspects of the football program imo callaway has done a decent job considering the shambles he was left with after brown. He has scholarships up, apr is up. The team has a better off the field reputation than in the past. So I think he might have it headed in the right direction. I mean who didn't have great asperations for this years season. Just think what would our record be with a slightly better "coached" defense" and add to that what our record would be with a better kicker or special teams coach. We would be bowling and probably be placed somewhere decent. I can think of 2 games right off we won but lost bc of defense. All i am saying is don't give up on the program or the kids. That is who it inevitably hurts.

Careful there Bored1. That kind of post will get you attacked by the pitchfork toting, brick throwing crowd.

heres the problem with your logic...the SAME exact paragraph could have been written at the end of last season. at that time, it is rumored, he was given the choice of dumping the DC (who was actually quite a bit better this year). he didnt, and it was said that he tied his ship to the sinking S.S. Shoe-Man...
apparently, the tie wasnt that strong
Is the rest of the defensive staff gone with Schumann?
Only one year contract extension.
What's Wayne Hall doing?

He and Callaway were both on Dye's staff at API.

You have at least 3 on that list I hope could be interviewed for Defensive Coordinator or Special Teams coach. Vlad would be my top cantidate, I think, but Hannibal and Tony have their strong points.
Hmmmm ... Let's see. What's this say here? 07-coffee3
