Do you think NIU will get a bit more respect in the Chicago media? Like the score, espn 1000, the trib, sun times, etc.?

Probably just a mention...I don't see the attention getting more serious until we've been ranked for a while OR we get higher up in the rankings
no
Nope. Regardless of what Northwestern is trying to tell people, Chicago is not a college sports town. It is a pro-sports town and it always will be.
Yes.
Most importantly it will impress NIU Alumns and help Jake Coffman win the Lowes Senior Award.
don't expect it. anything more than nothing is a bonus
No.
We will at-least likely get more media coverage as the Top 25 normally do.
I remember 2004, when NIU scored a TD when we were ranked it would be flashed at the bottom of a game being watched as an alert.
More than likely the score doesn't even know we are ranked. They just run mouths with no knowledge of sports

The national media will notice us more, being in the Top 25, and give us the accorded respect. The Chicago media won't, because they don't want to give any credit to a college football team other than Notre Dame, U of I and Northwestern.
If NIU athletics does it's marketing correctly, all media outlets at NIU will know that we are ranked.
It also gives as bragging rights over NU and Illinois, even though they both are likely to get better Bowls.

We have 110 people on this site. Is that close to a new record HMM?

Not right away, no. First of all, the polls don't mean anything if you're not top 25 in the overall BCS rankings. Secondly, we're not going to see the benefits overnight; rather, it won't be until next season that we're really talked about (coming off a top-25 season, could NIU be the next BCS busters, etc).

BCS busters must be undefeated and raked in the TOP 10.
We already have 110 people surfing this site. I call that an immediate impact.
It gives us and the MAC more credibility going to Detroit.

Agreed, and all of us on this board know that. However, the MEDIA pay-off won't come until next season. Let's face it, schools drop in and out of the top-25 all the time; the staying power is what matters. We'll get the media credibility if we finish this season in the top 25 AND enter next season as a pre-season top 25.
Yes but it will be gone as quickly as it came.

No idea, but that is more than I have ever seen.

winning the next 2 games is what matters, most likely driving us into the top 20 and giving us a good chance to start ranked next year. Lose either of these next 2 games and we've started something and had a great year, but won't get the media recognition.
670 The SCORE has mentioned us being ranked during the Bears pre-game.
Fred Mitchell has been providing good coverage all season long:
