he's had pretty good dlines at UF, no?
Interim UNT coach Mike Canales is going to be a great hire for someone. Very energetic, believes in his players, and his players believe in him. And he wants to be a head coach, it is his time.
It's really hard to know at this point. Hiring a coach anywhere is usually going to be a crap shoot, but it's even more so at a Sun Belt school considering where we are on the coaching food chain. I doubt there were too many candidates that had head coaching experience at an AQ school. That said, I think there's a big chance that UNT regrets not hiring Canales.

Getting any backlash on his domestic abuse past???

I don't know anything about that...
Could Canales be a candidate at Texas State?

There are people on our board campaigning for him.

Most of our fans like his fiery spirit, but feel like a 'named' coach is necessary to recruit against Coker and UTSA. Current darling is Phil Fulmer. The Other name thrown around is Fran.

UNT will need to give him a minimum six year contract. To ask less is suicidal for a career move.
Houston Nutt is probably going to get a pink slip from Ole Siss, so he may be available.

??? So the vacancies now are

Arkansas State
North Texas
La - Lafayette
Colorado
Indiana
Miami
Minnesota
Vanderbilt

Should I assume that New Mexico State and San Jose State are on the list too?

Add Ball State to that list as well. Parrish got canned after two bad seasons following Hoke.

You are dredging up old, old news. One incident years ago. Ancient history.

UNT will need to give him a minimum six year contract. To ask less is suicidal for a career move.

Initial contracts are usually FIVE years.
