in many cases in football. They have contests and whomever eventually makes the most field goals becomes the kicker. I suggest doing the same thing on our team. Forget defense. Get the guys out there and have a series of shooting contests. Do it over a period of a week. At least 1000 shots for each player. That' way you'll get enough seperation to make a determination and you can identify your best shooters. Three point shots for the 1,2, & 3 spots, and turnaround jump shots for the big men around the free throw line. Also make the big men shoot free throws. Sure defense is important, but you can't play it well enough to offset bad shooting. It would be a fun way to select your main players, but hey, it will never happen. Not on our team anyway. But what a concept.04-cheers
Another good idea would be to forget all other areas of basketball, and determine our starters by alphabetical order, except we start with the letter M. If you have that, especially in both the first and last names, then you're a starter.

I don't expect the field goal (i.e. Mouzy Method) or the alphabet method to be used to select today's line up. I actually like the line-up we've started the last 2 games. I don't see anyone on the bench, who is better than our starters and I like Chuckie coming in as 6th man to give the team an energy burst. I'm more concerned with some of the odd combinations that end up in the game after it starts. Not sure there's reason to panic and make major changes in the starting line-up after one bad game. On the other, hand I wouldn't be shocked to see a change.

We've always been told that it's not important who starts, but who finishes.04-cheers
