I hope it's not headed downward. I kind of thought what happened at A&M last night was coming except my expectations were for us to only lose by 25....not 46! Shanika being out really hurt because she is the most physical mentally tough player on the team. I watched on the aggieathletics webpage and our ladies were getting beat to every loose ball and every rebound it seemed. We were no match inside at all as we were getting pushed around and out of the way big time. We never had anyone stand straight up and take a charge..we just kind of el matadored them to the basket inside while picking up cheap half hearted fouls sending them to the line for conventional three pointers. I wanted to see what kind of talent Foley has brought in from a freshmen standpoint and quite honestly I did not witness much talent on the floor. I would not expect freshmen to perform very well against the #8 team in the nation but I kept waiting to see one of them at least make one play in the game and it didn't happen. No doubt though A&M has tons more talent so it's an apples to oranges comparison but the comparison I do want to make is in the past few years our Sunbelt nemisis Middle Tennessee has gone into top women's programs enivornments on the road and have played these teams very competitively. I don't ever remember them losing to anyone ranked in the top 10 by 46 points that's for sure. On the other hand it appears Shields might be finally bringing in a little more talent from what I'm hearing in regard to the newcomers and getting Will Neighbor.

All I believe you can determine from this one game is that the Trojans just got their butts kicked. I don't think you can make any long term determinations, nor do I think they are headed downward. If history means anything, Foley will have winning teams. If these ladies don't do the job, there will be new ladies next year to replace them. The young guns will grow up in time, and we should do allright. Maybe our expectations have been too high. Being a top team in the SBC should be our goal. Anything more than that would be icing on the cake. I'll guarantee you I wouldn't want to be a player at the first practice
following that game.03-melodramatic
It was a long drive back from College Station today after the loss. We were beat on the boards and had so many turnovers. A&M was quick. Shanika would have helped a lot but would not have changed the outcome. A&M had a lot of half court pressure and covered the passing lanes. It seemed like they scored on every turnover. If we played them at the end of the year it is still probably the same result but I don't believe it would be a butt Kicking. Did not see anyone replacing Kim as she played against Georgia Tech but more like she played against Oklahoma.
I think the ladies will be fine. Every team, even the best ones, lay an egg sometimes. And yes it looks like Coach Shields is getting some really great talent, especially with Will Neighbour! We are very excited to have him in a Trojans uniform!
