I say when we win, we should rush the field and tear down the bronze huskie. It would make for some good ESPN2 TV.

Rush the field because we beat a team we're better than?

Hell and no.

I've been wanting to do this forever, you won't need to persuade me at all but I think we may have trouble getting other people to do it...how can we get on the field?

We would look like complete morons rushing the field...U only do that when beat someone u weren't supposed to beat, like a high ranked team...Toledo is far from that...

Please don't do it!

Having an upset win is not the only reason to rush the field. Why can only schools like Wisconsin do it when beating Ohio? This game is important to our program and to our school.

It would be cool if the Team came over (after the win) & saluted the Fans/Students.....
with the Fight Song etc......Kind of like after the Purdue game except at Home

IMHO

Rushing the field for basically clinching a spot in the mac championship doesn't sound like a bad idea to me

I was ready to be one of the first on the field in '83...they had a 3 foot chain link fence on the Yourdon center side and the crowd started to push the fence down, bend it over...then I realized my right thumb was stuck in the top chain link, and guys are climbing over me and I'm almost screaming in pain...and thinking "sh-t! I'm gonna be the first one arrested and now I'll be in the paper as the first injury..damn it..my folks will be so pist". Then the thumb freed up and I ran on the field, it was swollen for a week. I remember how happy the player's faces were, they took their helmets off and were acting like goofs with the fans!

My Point - none really - just that even with a sprained thumb :) this it was a GREAT TIME and I remember it like yesterday - I'm 48, wife kids dogs good job etc, if this works out, you will remember it! For all you guys on campus, ENJOY IT!! It feels to me like it's '83 all over again.

I have no problem with it. Bring the energy and the huskie love. stop worrying how youll be perceive. that said, i dont see it happening. It sounds great until you look at the leap you have to make to get to the field.

I bet it would happen if we won and there was a way to get down to the field. Damn planners/architects forget to give us easy access. You'd have to bring ropes to get down there now. Not many are going to jump down ten feet or whetever it is to get to the field.
I was fortunate to have field pass for the Toledo game in '83. Great experience so say the least. Back in those day all one had to do was climb a 4 foot fence and you were out on the field if you sat in the endzones or east side. Anytime there was a great win, the goalpost would come down.

Didn't rush the field when we beat Maryland in '03, don't need to rush the field if we beat Toledo tomorrow.

Rushing the field is dangerous Toledo did it against Pittsburg in 03 and like 3 people were paralyzed and someone died.

Newsflash: We don't clinch just by beating Toledo.

Bartinindekalb I believe rushed the field when we beat BG in 2002 but he was promptly handcuffed, at least I think that was him.

But yes I agree, no sense rushing the field against a team we are better than. Unless its to carry off Beckman for the lagoon. It would make for an interesting facebook status for him at least.

Rabid technically you are absolutely correct, but lets face it, we win the West with a victory tomorrow night.

If we win, only ONE of the 4 scenarios has to happen for us to clinch:

NIU beats Ball State
OR
NIU beats Eastern Michigan
OR
Bowling Green beats Toledo
OR
Central Michigan beats Toledo

Statistically I'd say thats about a 99.8 percent chance of getting one of those 4.
