Many folks seek opportunities to get themselves on TV.

Why else have windows positioned to view from outside the news room studios in chitown?

Why else was youtube an instant success?

Presence of ESPN2 at nite during blackout promo with white stix should lure the casual fan on campus wanting friends elsewhere and relatives to watch for them hopefully getting stupid.
Silly, but very true. Should have made it a contest for the most ridiculous outfit that gets on TV.

Ticket sales looking rather gloomy right now. Weeknight games probably just too tough of a sell unless you bring in a higher end BCS conference team.

No. The last time we played Toledo on a Tuesday night with this much riding on the outcome, we drew over 27K. We won't get to that, but 20-22K should be expected. The east side will be filled to the rafters. Let's hope the old farts on the west side show up.

Brad, I said right now ticket sales for tomorrow's game are not that great.

Oh, well if you say it, it must be true. 03-lmfao
Let's hope we even get 20K to the game, for the start of the game.
They will have to give out several thousand free tickets to achieve that.
Do not assume students will show up.
Thousands will be in lectures. Thousands more would have attended lectures.
I hope I am wrong, but it will take great steps to get 20K people there.
They will need to hire busses to bring in people.
Get students to bring their friends.
Put filling the stands ahead of Ticket revenue.

I think you're going to see a huge walkup crowd for the West side ... many people are planning on going but aren't buying tickets in advance.

Hope you are right! Sounds possible. Maybe 20k is doable.
I would bet lots of money that most are planning on buying tickets when they get there. I know I am.
Yikes - I hope the crowd is better than this!

DeKALB – Tuesday evening games always give the Northern Illinois marketing department challenges.

But NIU director of marketing and development Shelley Binegar said the significance of tonight's Mid-American Conference West Division showdown between the Huskies (7-2 overall, 5-0 MAC) and Toledo (6-3, 5-0) helps overcome the usual issues of attracting fans to Huskie Stadium after a weekday of work.

“Lucky for us, it’s Toledo in a big game," said Binegar, who added that she expects an attendance between 17,000 to 18,000. "That makes it a little bit more exciting. We kind of have the benefit of having two 5-0 teams.”
I was guessing around 17 or 18,000 myself. Thought that was actually pretty good for a week night game considering neither team is ranked.
I wonder what that expectation regarding attendance is based on?
If Wolfe is going to be there, wouldnt it have been a good idea to inject him a bit more into the advertising and marketing of the game? That may have given a pretty good boost to have an NFL player on hand.

Im very disappointed we cannot draw big for this game, the players deserve it.

I don't think they can easily quantify a late-arriving walk-up crowd on the West Side. I'll be surprised if we don't push 20k ... it sounds like students are pumped for this game and should fill up at least 95% of the east side (although maybe just for the 1st half). If that happens and we get 2/3 of the west side filled we should be very close to 20k.

Being not in Dekalb its hard for me to gage the mood, but it seems quite rare to have that big of a student turnout on a weeknight. If the east side is 95% full, that would be a good thing, but I have my doubts

Hopefully students will sell them their tickets.
I do not see thousands of fans paying $30 a ticket.
NIU needs to get smart, by making money on added value items like food concessions, adjustable seats, more soda machines(that accept money!); Selling hot beverages. Selling Beer on the West side(having an over 21 section on both the East and West side). Selling merchandise etc. Vote Jake Coffman bumper stickers etc

I no many fans who would pay $30 for GW autograph, but not for a seat.
In the day and age of voyerism and where sex sells most everything, perhaps marketing should feature a celebrity guest appearance from a classless show like Jakazz, Jersey Shores or one of those other "reality" shows where young bux and hot chicks shack up in one house.

The average fan wont know Wolfe is there until tonight. That seems like a wasted opportunity.
Who is going to decide to drive to Dekalb and go to the game so that they can see Garrett Wolfe on the sideline for 60 seconds?
