As i noted earlier, not surprised TCU jumped Boise.
I don't see how UCF at #23 is justified right now. You haven't beaten anybody of note.
TCU is ranked #3 in the nation after an impressive showing against UTAH

UCF is ranked #23 as currently the highest ranked team in Florida

These might be good options to help the Big East regain some football clout within the BCS world.
Who was the signature win for UCF?
ECU.

Houston on Friday night-another BE candidate
Wins over ECU (5-4) , Marshall (3-6), UAB (3-6), Houston (5-4) , Rice (2-7), Buffalo (2-7) and South Dakota (4-6) gets you ranked? That's a real stretch. If that kind of resume gets you ranked Pitt and Syracuse should both be ranked.

Congrats to both.

Of course last year at this time TCU was ranked #4 and Houston was ranked #15 with the Cougars beating Oklahoma State, Texas Tech, and Mississippi State, the first two being 9-4 teams and the latter 5-7.

How many victories over BCS teams does UCF have in its history again? 05-stirthepot

Cheers,
Neil

This in my opinion puts us in the realm of circular logic. Houston's big wins this season were against CUSA foes - same for UCF. Teams like BSU, TCU and Utah have beaten other teams from BCS conferences and/or have been recognized that they are already being invited to power conferences. I don't believe UCF deserves a ranking right now.

I'm not one to argue with the The USA TODAY Board of Coaches. Which is made up of 59 head coaches at Division I-A institutions. All are members of the American Football Coaches Association. I figure they are best at determining a Top 25 team when they see one.
Same post as other thread....

Well, it is true there aren't a lot of juggernauts being beat (none actually), but everyone else keeps losing, so...

No doubt that UCF's recent national appearances on ESPN/ESPN2 for 3 out of their past 4 games has certainly helped them get some publicity...and how 2 of the teams they just beat (ECU and Houston) also had some Top 25 votes...so that probably helped as well.

Ranking though won't mean much if UCF can't beat 6-3 Southern Miss this weekend...as UCF is still fighting to win CUSA East...and then hopefully secure home field advantage (for the 3rd time in 6 years) for the CUSA Championship Game.

It shows that even coaches can get sucked up into trying to make trendy picks.
Since when is UCF trendy lol?

True!! (I wish they were!)
Geez, why can't you guys just be happy for your future conference mate? 05-stirthepot If UCF deserves to be ranked then they will prove it by winning the rest of their games. This is a different team now that Godfrey has taken command of the offense than it was when we dropped those first two games.

teams are going to be ranked eventually if they go through their conference except for MAC and Sun Belt teams who might not make it until seasons end. The Big East being down this year opens some ranking slots as well.
