Using 2006, 2007, 2008, and 2009 data how do you think the following scenarios rank from worse to best in terms of top-to-bottom strength
A) BE as the current 8 football teams
B) Current 8 + TCU only
C) Current 8 + TCU and ECU
D) Current 8 + TCU and Houston
E) Current 8 + TCU and UCF
Cheers,
Neil

Move A to the very bottom and you've probrably got it about right...
Actually, I'd say A is right. Pretty close between A and B, regardless.

Pretty sure someone previously looked at the ranking and besides TCU, of course, ECU was the only team that would not bring the overall Big East BCS rankings down as we were ranked with an average in the top 50 (besides TCU again of course).
So worse to best would probably be E, D, C, B, and most likely A in turns of BCS ranking to just speculate without looking it up myself going on that.
Using sagarin ratings
A) current Big East: 40.97
B) Big East + TCU: 39.16
C) Big East + TCU + ECU:41.00
D)Big East+ TCU+ Houston:41.70
E) Big East + TCU+UCF:43.28
Almost positive its:
1. B) Current 8 + TCU only
2. A) BE as the current 8 football teams
3. C) Current 8 + TCU and ECU
4. D) Current 8 + TCU and Houston
5. E) Current 8 + TCU and UCF
Okay, I won't keep you in suspense anymore:
Using Jerry Palm's BCS site, this is what I came up with:
5. Current 8 + TCU + UCF - 43.35
4. Current 8 - 41.97
3. Current 8 + TCU + ECU - 41.15
2. Current 8 + TCU only - 40.23
1. Current 8 + TCU + Houston - 40.22
Not a significant difference between the 5 options and all 5 are better than the ACC.
Although by the time we add in this year's totals, we'll fall back in the pack.
Entertaining game going on between UCF and Houston.
Cheers,
Neil

Thanks for running the numbers Neil. That's remarkable close, especially for the top 4. This puts even more emphasis on the dollars and cents schools can bring in over the various revenue aspects.
