Big article in the paper this morning about how Pelphrey is hard after him, as are some other big programs, and the kid doesn't mention UALR as a possibility. Once again, we can't recruit our best hometown kids.
But why should we expect anything different. It's been that way forever. When someone steps up, develops TV exposure, as UMKC is obviously doing, then maybe our presitige will begin to grow with in state kids. I'm just amazed that Chris, with all he has done to make this program better, hasn't made that happen.04-cheers
This is one of the poorest programs I have ever seen at promoting itself - in every respect.
Many of you guys talk to Chris and Steve all the time. Why hasn't this been mentioned?

I've said for several years that there is a reason behind this. Someone doesn't want UALR to be a significant factor in the state in basketball. The only thing I can think of is somewhere in the university system someone is telling the powers that be in LR, don't do anything that might make UALR into a program that gathers the attention that the program had in the Newell years. If that's not a viable reason, why aren't we doing anything to promote the program? Give me a better reason. Chris Peterson isn't stupid. He does most of the things right, but he isn't doing much of anything to promote the program, like the special nights and TV exposure. Just sell enough tickets to pay the bills. I'd still like for someone to tell me why we did nothing to honor the '85-'86 team that beat Notre Dame with a 20 year reunion.

It probably won't be long before someone will say "now do something about that Joe Foley." He's making us(UofA)look bad.
