Pretty disappointing, only Ohio is in the top 25. Usually the MAC has 2 or 3 in this poll to start things off. Kent State and Akron are poised for a big drop off this year.
Not concerned about the pre-season. Win some out of conference games and things will take care of themselves.
The MAC is really down in Bball over the years and football for that matter.
The MAC use to pretty consistently have a team in the Top 25 for football for a good chunk of time (NIU, Toledo, Ball St. Miami etc) not nothing - sad!
Football should be fine, lots of new facilities around the league, this is just a down year. Temple, Toledo, NIU, WMU, among others all look like they'll be alright.
The MAC has been down in both sports in the last few years, no doubt. It was just 4 or 5 years ago and for several years prior that the MAC was ranked as high as I think the #10 conference overall for basketball. And it was almost always ranked in the top half of the listing of all the conferences nationwide (there are a lot of smaller school conferences, true, but still it was a good accomplishment for the MAC in my mind). I'd be interested in seeing where they are ranked this year as a conference. Bet it would still be higher than some of you would think - as I'm guessing the thoughts "last" or "near the bottom" came to mind to some of you. It just goes to show you that those who don't understand that the MAC really has been a decent basketball conference overall don't know that much about D-I college basketball on a national level.
