Has Vitale had throat problems? I am watching Butler/Indiana and he sounds absolutely horrible. He sounds like he is about 95. His schtick isnt even effective. He sounds like an old man in a nursing home complaining about the soup.

Get real. You'd never here that from Duke, I mean Dick Vitale.
I really do think it's his age.
Last week, I was watching that awful college basketball movie from the early 1990's. Blue Chippers, or something like that. Vitale did a little segment where he was hyping Nick Nolte's team with Anfernee Hardaway and Shaq.
I'd seriously forgotten how loud and obnoxious he used to be... even reading a script. I guess that was back in his prime, from 90-95 or so.
Nowadays, he's just like MemphisBlazer described... like a sad old man who would rather be asleep in his bed by 8 PM instead of sitting in a noisy arena.
Almost makes you feel bad for the guy.... nah.
