Anyone interested in help handing out tickets to students on Monday and Tuesday for the Toledo game? I will be doing this with the Athletic Department on Tuesday morning, but they could use more help on Monday and Tuesday.
you know you got me

HMM - you rock. Thanks for being such a super fan and for helping promote NIU football. 04-bow

If I were in Dekalb I would most certainly lend a hand. Sadly, won't get there until 4 p.m. or later on the 9th.
Cann't they pay cheerleaders to help you?
You rock HMM. NIU FB greatest super-fan!
Don't forget to mention the black out!!

Why don't you do me a favor and hang on to 2 of those tickets for me. I believe the peg leg and I are coming down to the game.
What's the limit for tickets per student when you hand them out? I already swiped my student ID to get one, but need three more.

No idea. I am assuming the athletic dept will tell me.
What about Hand them out at gate first come first serve. What's to say handed out tickets the people show?

What.
Tampa.. students can get tickets at the door.

The point is to give them tickets early so they will know about the game, and plan their schedule around it.
So far it's not looking like HMM is going to have much help with this - unless you talked to him personally & didn't post it.

Anybody else out there who can give him some help? We need to pack the stadium!!!
what % of the on campus students do not know
1. there is a game tuesday
2. kickoff is 6pm
3. where the stadium is
You would be stunned gcd.. Of course, I haven't been in school for a while now, but I remember classes, asking a friend if they were going to the game and I'd get a "What Game?" response all the time.

Even though it's plastered all over the Northern Star every day and the campus. Some people really just aren't aware of what's going on around outside their own bubble.

Those are the types of people that HMM, and others giving out tickets will hopefully reach. Once the ticket is in their hand, maybe they finally make it to a game. And they find out they have a good time and want to go back.

It'd be nice if teachers gave out tickets on Monday and Tuesday.

3. where the stadium is

1. 37%
2. 50%
3. 8%

And those numbers I feel are very accurate.
1. 60% today, by end of Tuesday - 40%
2. 83% today, by the start of the game Tuesday - 91% (Alcohol is also a hell of a drug).
3. 15% (Don't know easiest way to get there / what side of the stadium to sit on / where to park / what colors our team is / that it's free to get in - 88%).

I'd submit those scores as a final exam for NIU super-fandom and feel pretty confident I'd be graduating.

i think this entire issue is over thought. Our attendence on week night games usually played later in the year are pretty good. Here are the facts; its a big game, the weather looks very good, student attd is better then most of you think, national coverage. I think the place will be packed. Might be a late arriving crowd but they will come. To me the biggest worry that looks like it will not be a factor is the weather
I think that handing students tickets is a brilliant idea.
Last week I was sitting next to a parent of a band player.
Unlike many younger students who stay for a half he stayed for the game.
By the third quarter I noticed a stand full of older folks in the student section and families enjoying the game.
Students pay a fortune and getting $5-$10 for their ticket is something they deserve.
Hand out 120%-150% capacity of tickets. That way stadium will be close to full at the start.
If we hire more students and have more concessions, that could make up for lost ticket revenue.
Get professionals to have a stand and charge them.
2000 tailgaters will not pay $30 a ticket.
Give them value. Encourage students to sell their tickets to adults on the east side.
That way the stands remain less open.
Get more vending machines that work.

Well said, gcd. Weather tends to be the #1 factor when it comes to NIU attendance late in the year. It will be a late arriving crowd - many will skip tailgating altogether. I know several alumni who will work most of the day in the suburbs, and leave work a little early in time to get to the game. Huskie fans will show. I'm not sure about the game being "packed", I doubt we'll have a bigger crowd than homecoming, but NIU will be well represented to the tune of 18-20k. I hope I'm wrong and we fill the place for the first time in several years.
