For those of us way out of town who could only listen on the radio, if we hadn't pulled the game out in OT was the offensive interference call epically bad on the level of the "phantom lineman downfield" call a few years ago in Hattiesburg? Crane sure thought it was "suspicious"...

I don't know that I would say the refs stole another one from us since we let them come back from 14 down, but it felt like it.

I had to listen online with a station in Jackson, the way they "saw" it, it was a "blatant" pushoff, of course, I'd like to see it myself to draw a personal conclusion, I'll bet Crane gave those officials an earful about the call, but at least he didn't tear his shirt off from the pressbox and give the USM fans "one-fingered salutes", eh?
No, it was legit.

It happened right in front of the official. I saw Forrest push off, make the catch, and then held my breath as I looked at the zebra to see if he'd call it, and he did.

I have no real beef with the officiating. Nothing stood out to me as a particularly aggregious call.
it was the right call
If smaug said it was a legit call I believe him. I had no tv (Can't get CSS and I don't know many who do) and had to listen to USM radio because of us being on JOX and I not only could not get the signal but the online version was blocked and they played a Finebaum replay during the game.
I thought it was marginal at the time, and could have NOT been called just as easily. It was at the far end, but it looked like our guy was just trying to hold his position and not get forced out along the side line. He gave the defender a "chicken wing" push with his elbow. He didn't extend is arm or use his hand to push off. He just forcefully stayed in bounds and made some "elbow" room to make the catch.

...at least that's my completely unbiased opinion 03-bored
I'm glad it was legit, because we were just screaming at the TV at Loco's. They didn't get on Forrest in time, all you could see was him with his back to the DB catching the ball. We were just livid.

I thought I saw an open hand to the solar plexis, but I like your version better. 04-bow03-lmfao04-bow
It could have gone either way. FF and his man jockeyed for position all day long. They waited 58:40
into the game to call it one way or the other.
The only real complaint I had was it seemed like they were hitting us alot out of bounds

That was my point. FF was getting mugged and did bump his guy. I thought it could have been on the D as well.
I was sitting next to Smaug and agree that it was a legit pushoff, and I think he probably would have a decent chance of catching the thing if he didnt push off. Oh well,, we WON!!!!
David Crane said, "Holy Smoke! Are you kidding me?"
It looked legit to me watching on TV. The back judge waited a long time to throw the flag, but as soon as I saw it, I knew it was on Frantrell.

It may have been because he couldn't find it, because he was reaching for his hip pocket pretty quick.
There was a block in the back on a USM breakaway in the 1st half that was just flat out ignored by the back judge. Our man ended up getting the runner forced out, but it was 5-6 yards farther down field from the block.
Guys, we're talking about C-USA officials. Are you telling me you're surprised that they weren't very good?

Really?
Like I said, I didn't find much to ***** about Saturday, and I'm someone who busts on officials pretty regularly.

I did see the block in the back non-call mentioned, and I remember a few other instances where I thought a call was missed (a couple that should have been against us), but overall, I thought the officiating was pretty good. That is a shock! But true.
I am thoroughly convinced that the Talledega School for the Deaf and Blind run the referee camps, and from the graduates, the Alabama Junior High School Referee Association gets first pick, Sun Belt and C-USA get 2nd & 3rd.
