Per Bill Cower and I'm sure many other coaches before him: "You should always put your best players and best coach on special teams, because those teams are special."

Special teams letdowns have cost our Blazers at least 3 games, this year. Is it too much to ask to get a coach that only coaches special teams? Saturday we had 2 or 3 blocks in the back and a fumble. :domokun:
yeah, but, we finally made another fg 02-13-banana
some on this board would call this progress
Or at least we need a designated person to yell out - Hold on to the ball, don't run into the kicker, etc.
I've heard it repeatedly that we've used all of our available funds designated for salaries with what what we have, and special teams was the odd man out.

What I'd propose then is take some grad assistant already in the program, and tell him, "Congratulations, young man (or lady)! Special teams is now your bailiwick. You will now focus all of your energy on making us a special teams beast. Here's Frank Beamer's phone number. Call collect."

This.
+2, I've said many times just get a grad asst who costs minimal amts in wages & send him to Beamer's ST school.

PBJr and the BOT won't allow it. Enjoy, because we won't have one next year either. Or the next year. Or the next year. Or the next year. Infinity.
When Florida wanted to demote their former coach (now at Illinois) under Spurrier, they put him in charge of Special Teams to run him off. When Wayne Bolt wanted to demote Woodrow Lowe from coaching the LBs, he was put in charge of the Special Teams prior to running him off. Apparently the Special Teams coaching position does not carry the same "clout & respect" at the collegiate level that the above quote indicates it has in the pros.
"Cow & Chicken" could've done a better job with special teams than this guy did against MSU.
