The map is in the powerpoint of the plan site.

Yeah, they just posted that, just a few minutes after my post. All I can say about the map is: Whoa. (also, no football stadium, unless they're disguising it as a practice field)

I'm not seeing a map?

can I get some help over here?
The plan needs to include an on-campus football stadium. We have gone way too long without one.
Where is the link to the power point?

I hope that the stadium is hidden in there somewhere..
I think they pulled the powerpoint with the map. I got a copy of it, but I'm not 100% sure I can post it. I'm sure it'll be back soon. I can't say that there is a football stadium on it, but there is a four block area that has like two practice fields on it, and like four total football fields plus two soccer fields, so I'm willing to bet one set of those are a placeholder.

The link seems to have disappeared. I saved the ppt, but its too large to post. The slide I copied won't post for some reason. But there appears to be 2 (practice?) FB fields near the top left.
Get a GMail account and email with that. It can handle large files.
DM me your email and I can email you the powerpoint.

"No football stadium
The map does not lay out plans for a UAB football stadium, something fans have been clamoring for, although it does show the football practice fields moving north across Sixth Avenue South. It also shows a new track, soccer field and tennis courts on the site of what's now the Medical Center Inn. "

That sure is a really big parking lot with a walking path under I-65 connecting to the "practice field"... I totally agree that the stadium was "left out" because it would have usurped all the publicity from all the good things they are wanting to accomplish with this. I'd like to see a 25,000-30,000 seater built. Some of you might think thats too small, but small is good initially. If blazer football can get headed in the right direction after it is built, then 30,000 should be easy to sell out. Keep it small for a few years to force people into buying season tickets to ensure they can get into games, and then expand as needed with the revenue generated from selling season tickets/sky boxes. You can even sell the naming rights to some company like JSU is trying to do with BB&T to help pay for it. I think the smaller it is initially, the more likely the goons in tuscaloosa will be to go for it, and the more value it adds to actually being able to get in and watch a game there.
This definitely looks like where a football stadium could go, lots of tailgating area around it.

I'm pretty sure that parking lot on the other side of I-65 will be a parking lot. Check out the areas around Ullman and the HUC. Several parking lots are slated to be closed and buildings put in their place. Another part of the plan that isn't in the public documents but was mentioned in the presentation is the creation of a UAB-specific transit system to circulate people around campus.
I fully believe one of those "practice" fields will be the future stadium.
Especially with all the parking behind it. I see a practice field also where the hotel and waffle house is.
Exciting time to be a Blazer!
baseball stadium up near railroad park?

That's the proposed stadium that the City of Birmingham wants to build. Note that on the UAB side of things Young Memorial Field is still there and apparently the softball fields will be moving north.

I'd probably take the athletics facilities on the map with a large grain of salt. Those types of projects are politically sensitive when compared to hospital or research facilities.

Lots of green space around the practice fields between 5th and 6th Avenue. The orientation of those fields is interesting to me too. They seem to be facing downtown, kinda like the proposed baseball stadium a few blocks north. A horseshoe stadium with the empty side leaving a view of the downtown skyline would have to be built facing that same direction I believe. The path that encircles the field with the adjacent building almost looks like the footprint of an OCS.
