The schedule is in. The roster is posted - with pictures. Signing day is drawing near.

And we can't even raise a good argument on this board. Someone must have slipped us a Mickey. (Just an expression there, mjs, no offense intended).

Nothing to argue about yet. Let the games begin!04-cheers

You've got to have interest in a subject to have an argument. I've never seen so little interest in the UALR program at this time of the year(practice has started)since I can remember. Coming off one of the worst years since I've been a fan. Usually at this time some of our fans are out watching practice, and dreaming about this being the year. Now they won't even let you watch practices.
With this program, no news is no news.

I fixed that for you Scotto.

No News seems to be the MO of this program these days, good or bad. But I have to agree with LR Trojan's post.

Hope you are at the Oct 28th practice. Probably your only chance.

I did see several of the pickup games earlier and am impressed.

Just 25 days, 21 hours and 21 minutes til the first game
As a student of the game, I always enjoyed watching Coach Sutton's practices. I also enjoyed the way Coach Moser would break down the game film and even give us heads-up on special plays.

Those were the good old days.

Yes, I enjoyed them more then also. I don't think that this program has been this low since the Platt days. Not even Sidney's tenure was this low. He didn't last long enough for our moral to drop this low. Seven years of hopes and dreams GONE WITH THE WIND. Maybe he'll stumble on to a championship some day. After all, a blind hog can find an acorn if they root around long enough.
No Midday Madness, no exhibition games, no news. It's all good.

I always enjoyed the exhibition games, but I guess losing to Harding ended all that. But, I can see the benefits of playing scrimmage games. You can stop and correct things the moment they happen and, if you get beat, you're fans never know about it.
My concern for this season is the game with Philander Smith. If losing to Harding was not bad enough, think about getting beat by nearby Philander Smith, How bad would that be?

Ain't gonna happen. You can take that to the bank. However, should we lose we can blame it on Obama for bailing out the banks!04-cheers

I have already posted that I talked with Steve the other night at the fund raiser, and he told me that they are closing the first few practices because they have seven new players and want to have them focused early on, but to call him and he would tell me when we could come out. So I'll give him a call later this week and see when it will be possible to come out and watch. He's just trying to do whatever he feels is best for the program in order to win as many games as possible. He obviously knows that last season was a disaster and doesn't want a repeat. If closing practices helps the team prepare better and win more games, then I'm all for it. But if and when I'm able to get out and watch, I'll be happy to report how the guys are doing. I know that Pappy and others, being out of town, love to receive some information.04-cheers
Could be that practices are closed also because some recruits are visiting and it is not difficult for a booster (us) to say the wrong thing to a recruit and get an NCAA violation.

If that had been the case, I feel Steve would have had no reason not to tell me that. I think he just wants to get started without any distractions.04-cheers
They did at least make an effort with this Meet the Trojans thing. But I do wish we still had the maroon-white game. That was fun to go to.
