[color=green][size=18]Friday night could have been a day that UAB fans thanked Watson brown for the job he has done here at UAB.
It could have been a day to say thanks for giving it your best shot and devoting so much time and effort in attempting to take UAB to the next level.
From Black Friday to the LSU, ECU top 25, to the MSU victories to embarrassing losses to the dregs of college football, it has diffidently been a roller coaster ride for Blazer fans but there has been some good memories.
Friday could have been a time to reflect on the past to some great players and moments and to look to the future.
Friday could have been a day to honor 31 seniors playing their final game in Birmingham.
Fans that have been staying away in droves protesting Watson brown remaining as head football coach would have returned for all the reasons mentioned above. Instead because of Watson browns stubbornness an ego,

Friday night will be a game poorly attended because fans want a change and think this is the only way to send a message.
No matter how much we ask and beg, if things go south the cheers of what fans that are there will turn to boos and chants of
ATTALLABLAZE Wrote:Thanks for the memories.

What possible good is accomplished by Watson not announcing it is over? I swear he really believes he is going to be there next year.

That will be an accurate description of me and my family this Friday night.

I've always wanted to do that. I think I now have my chance.

Ditto. There is no better time for Watson to announce it than now. Otherwise, it will become quite ugly.
I've been thinking. I'll bet you anything that Watson actually believes wholeheartedly he'll be back next year. And he may just be back next year, that wouldn't surprise me a bit. But from all indications it seems he is (or at least should be) out. But I think he is sitting around right now planning on being here next year. He's delusional.
It certainly has the potential for becoming the most spectacular disaster in the history of UAB football.

I wonder now if the turnout is going to be as bad as we all think it will be.

Remember the movie Stand by Me? Where the boys trekked quite a ways to view a dead body. Or what about those pesky traffic jams every evening at quittin' time, where the opposing lanes are tied up with rubberneckers looking at the damaged cars on the other side, hoping beyond hope to glipse an injury or other misfortune.

Our game may bring Hobbesian rubberneckers there just to see the whole pathetic scene play out.... :domokun:

There is no way. He was given the ultimatum at the end of last season. He had to produce or quit. This year we have invented new ways to F*ck it up. Watson knows he is gone, losing more than normal even for Watson, is his way of grinding the stake in our collective hearts for another year. Seriuosly, we could have tried to lose some of these games and not done a good a job of giving them away. We are Snakebit with Giant Fangs as long as Watson is the Coach.
Im going to be at the game, cheering for my Blazers. Ill be a fan who hopefully acts with class, rather than contributing to a bad image. Its ok to be dissatisfied with the status quo, but that should not keep any UAB fan from hoping for a victory. The country will be looking at us. I plan to let them see a fan who cares about his team and is rooting for them to be successful. Will I be pi$$ed if the team performs poorly?? YOu betcha!!! Will I blame players?? Only if they are classless in their actions or make truly stupid mistakes. Will I blame the coaches for a poor team outing?? YES indeed!, to the extent that the team seems poorly prepared, or game/clock management is pitiful, or many other factors that reflect on the coaching of our team.
If we win, Ill be proud of all of UAB's football operation, giving credit where credit is due, notwithstanding the sum total of what has passed over this season and those prior to that time.

I had hope in previous years that that would be the case, he wouldn't be allowed to return to coach the team. However, as we all know, no changes were made. Because of that very basic and simple fact, I refuse to believe that any coaching change will be made within the next eight-to-ten years. Why is this year worse than last? It isn't! To be honest with you all, I expected fewer victories this season because of the loss of a few very key players. If Coach Brown wasn't relieved of his duties at the conclusion of last season, or the season before, or even the season before that, why would he be discharged now?
I keep hearing words of hope from some well connected members here on this board, but until I can read words of guarantee from any of them, I believe we are just setting ourselves up for a tremendous fall. Unless certain words can be written here, without actuall being 'written', proving that a major coaching change will be taking place soon we all have no choice but to assume that Coach Brown will be here next year and for years to come.
If ya'll can't support the coaching staff...then go support the team. Go support the BAND that everyone agrees has gotten so much better. This will be the last home game, and the last home performance for so many of the seniors. They deserve to have a good night, and go out on a positive supportive note. Coaches will come and go, but these kids who have worked SOOOOOO hard will only get one last night. I wish I could be there, I'd wear my UAB Band Booster T-shirt and be proud.
I, too, still have my doubts about cwb being let go. I'll believe it when I see it.

Me too.
You guys have fun with that Friday night... I think I rather work late..
Good post Attalla! I said what I had to say about the UAB coaching staff and for some reason it got put on the smack board.
