Just look at all those accomplishments. Can't imagine doing all that while playing football.

Easy to forget this kind of stuff while we're losing games. Now let's get out there and turn this ship around.

here lies my problem with all of these academic accolades in regards to athletes.......

These are great INDIVIDUAL accomplishments. They are a wonderful tribute to the player and the players family for that matter. The university receives nothing that I know of for these accomplishments other then a pat on the back...correct me if I am wrong.

Other then a nice plaque on the wall this does nothing for the student body , alum, school.

Right or wrong, I bet if you asked Joe Public who won this award last year they couldn't tell you. I bet if you asked half the WMU student body who won they couldn't tell you.

I would like to see 2011 MAC Football Championship on his resume. That would impress me.

Congrats to Phil though, this will look nice on his resume.

Well, its refreshing to see something good come out of a player from the football team after last weeks UFC on field fight.

I thought we were talking about BroncoPhilly.

As a photographer, this is a shot of the player rather than the action. Editors sometimes ask for a specific shot of someone, this is the result. He looks like he is setting up for pass protection, the ball is just hiked. No one has come into his zone... yet.

Phil is the consummate student athlete. He writes for the Herald, does a radio show, did a column for the NY Times online, and is flat out a nice young man. When the season is over he's at every basketball game covering them. He's what college athletics should be.
