I like what i saw from the defense. They have performed pretty well dispite being on the field the majority of the game. We got to the QB multiple times. Toler and Buxton impressed me today. Toler is a stud, seems like he isnt a "practice" player as some people pointed out. Buxton has a knack for the ball as well, kid was offered by Miami so we know he can play. Johnnie Simon had some nice tackles. Nowak has become a force in the trenches. im excited for the future of the Bronco D. Cohen was a good get.
Now the offense .......... AAAAAAAGGGGGGGHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!! REALLY? Maybe next game!
OFFENSE WAS GARBAGE. CUBIT'S PLAYCALLING WAS AGAIN GARBAGE.
Have to agree, the defense is improved, and playing solid.........just left out on the field too long.
I really want to know exactly what happened with Wiggins. After giving up that long run in the first quarter, he was yelling at someone, and they took him off the field. Cubit jumped in his face and was screaming at him. He screamed back, and Winchester ran over and took Wiggins away. Didn't see Wiggins the rest of the day.

Too bad we will never know the entire story their.

Offense was atrocious. Lack of a run game and Carder making up his mind on who to throw to before the ball is snapped is not a good method for success.

Buxton showed promise, but he was beat deep about three times and got the coverage wrong another handful of times.

Armstrong, Berry and Nowak are the only players on defense with any experience. Everybody else was either a true frosh, RS frosh, or Sophomore.
Positives - Nowak, Buxton, Tolar, Hazel, Armstrong, D Jones, Potter

Concerns -Carders accuracy and reads, WR's other than White, lack of TE's involvement

Totally Unacceptable- Fighting between defensive backs (on the field), Offensive line( run and pass blocking), RB's performance, special teams kick coverage, offensive play calling

It's not a good day to be a Bronco.
positives for todays game? What? that it finally ended before Idaho scored 50 plus points?
Positive from Today... Central lost to Big Ball State. If Western can beat Central (@ the Tool Shed) and Eastern it's not a totally lost season.
No it is a lost season. A complete LOST season if we finally get past Central and it doesn't mean anything in terms of winning the MAC. It is a wasted opportunity to take a step up and do something when our rival is down. I can't handle lowering expectations every year. It is killing me.
This is going to be a long, long year. It's hard to find any positives in what happened today.

No surprise coming from you Georgie.
Do I have enough Bronco street cred to say that I can't find any positives out of this game?
Actually, DURING the game I was on the phone with a guy who was at the game, I had it on Gameplan, we said over and over, "what's bad is that the defense is playing well in spite of being put in bad spots all the time".

THAT is a positive, no matter how much butt hurt you are about the game here today, which I agree, sucked. Those guys made plays and tried to win, all game. My hat is off to the defensive unit, especially after having two douchebags fight on the field DURING the game, they could have mailed it in right there. Our defense DID NOT look slow, special teams, offense? Ayep, not the D.

Funny how you should single me out for a comment about the team that has gotten absolutely dusted off the field by its first three bonafide opponents. Is there anyone on these boards who is actually encouraged by the team's play other than you? I saw the defense and I thought they were dreadful. Our Division 1A opponents have scored 38, 37 and 33 points against us. We were lucky they didn't score more. I'm not quite as charmed by our defensive play as the broadcasters in the booth are.

George, think, it's not as simple as counting the points. Against UT two TD's came off short field turnovers by the offense and one came off a kick return.

The defense has played well especially when you consider the amount of time they've been on the field.

Offensive line is awful. Neither could they run block or pass protect. Left the QB vulnerable, and without time to find receivers.

I'm a bit perplexed how a fairly young defense can show improvement, while a veteran offense is heading in reverse.
You need a RB. I saw HUGE holes and the RB not making plays. Your OL is good.

This.

That's been the issue all year, they don't follow their blockers, improvise and go down with a gentle nudge. I thought Carder had time to make plays yesterday, he wasn't accurate at all and hurt himself with bad decisions when it mattered.

It's not as simple as the OL being "fat" or whatever the geniuses are saying for this particular moan session.
I admit that it's the newer "thang" to have defensive linemen fast rather than big, and that will prevent QBs not having enough time, especially for O-line guys who are bigger & slower.

But Carder just sucked. When the QB sucks, and the running backs aren't good, it ends up biting ya in the arse.

I'm on my last nerve with Cubit. If we lose to BSU, barring a win at ND or Central, I want him gone. If none of the previous, he'd need to win the rest of the others and 6-6 with our team on their way up and kicking a$$ to keep another season (and the loss to ND being respectable; loss to Central being nailbiter).

Hell, I'd look to hire MSU's offensive coordinator who coached the game against Wisconsin... if we had the money and desire on his part.

Chip ...

You're right about the turnovers in the Toledo game -- point taken. Still, I feel as though we've been really pushed around in the two games I saw.
