Ou/OSu Mascot on Mascot violence

Quote:

Things to watch for: Rufus's head flying off with his first failed tackle, and a last-ditch nutshot before security separates them.

I love mascot fights. My freshman year, Hooter the Owl showed up rowdy (drunk, was the rumor) to the Syracuse game, and would end up getting ejected after tackling the Orange and rolling him around the field.

Also of note: Rufus Bobcat's missed tackle was probably the best of the day for Ohio, who lost 43-7.

States response!
Quote:What Was Rufus Bobcat thinking?

Ok, Ohio State has the nation's No. 2-ranked team. We can understand how some people may want to poke a hole in the Ohio State mystique.

But to take cheap shots at the beloved OSU mascot, Brutus Buckeye? Well, that's just hitting below the belt. (And believe us when we tell you, Rufus Bobcat can hit below the belt.)

How do we know that? Well, we have the video to prove it.

We aren't sure if this was planned, but as Ohio State made its usual chereographed entrance on Saturday an intruder ran across the Ohio Stadium turf and accosted Brutus Buckeye.

That intruder was Rufus Bobcat. As you will see on the video captured from field level by Bret Hoovler below, the OSU band played "Fight The Team" to usher the cheerleaders and the football team onto the field before Saturday's game against Ohio (which the Buckeyes won 43-7, by the way).

Well, as you will note, the Ohio mascot charged full bore onto the field during the OSU team's triumphant entrance to the stadium and pretty much attacked Brutus Buckeye. He knocked over the huge OSU flag and even loses his head in the process.

Some might say this was a premeditated attack designed to throw Brutus and the Buckeyes off their game. Too bad it did not work.

Heck, all's fair in love and war, right?

But this kind of unprovoked assault is the kind of thing that could get a school uninvited from the party. (After all, Ohio State paid their little brother from the MAC a tidy $850,000 to fill this open date on the schedule.)

We won't get too deep on you, though. Judge for yourself. Here is the pregame video as the band welcomes the OSU team and cheerleaders onto the field and Rufus Bobcat makes his presence known and felt. (Especially note the moment at about 50 seconds into this video when Rufus gets frisky and punches the beloved Brutus in the ... er, towel. That's right before Rufus was escorted from the field ... finally ... by security.)

Here is the video. Judge for yourself. After this ridiculous display, should Ohio ever grace the doorstep of Ohio Stadium ever again?
Where was Airport KC last Saturday? Just wondering.....
Apparently the student has be relieved of his mascot duties.

Rufus should have taken the other guy's head off...and i don't mean the buckeye head! 03-nutkick
Point of correction for the Bucknuts: Ohio State is the little brother.

Also, I've done some service as Rufus... never even entertained the idea of ambushing the other mascot. It's hard enough to get around as it is...
wow, embarrassing for OU
That was awesome.
Too bad the chief wasn't around last Sat. Victor E would have taken his head off.
Speaking as an outsider who knows nothing of the politics behind this incident . . . all I can say is that was a pathetic display by the Ohio mascot. No class at all !!!

Plus, the wire photo I saw makes him look like a desperate 12 year old lunging at Justin Beiber. (I have a 14 year old. I know these things.)

Total and epic fail. How do you live that one down?
If he's going to give OU a black eye, get escorted out, and lose his gig as Rufus in the process, the least he could do is give a solid tackle for his troubles. He was owned both in midfield and in the endzone.
Dude, that mascot needs to mellow out and be more representative of the OU student body.

Yeah. If you're going to get kicked out, might as well kick Brutus' ass while you're at it.
Apparently, he's not an OU student. And he's wanted to do it for a year.

The story gets weirder and funnier.
he's my new idol! 03-lmfao 04-bow
I was thinking the person in the Bobcat costume got the gig specifically to satisfy his secret desire to go after the OSU Nutsack. It turns out to be true!!

Premeditated Attack of the Buckeye

Check out the photo. It's the best one yet!

While I don't condone nor encourage such actions, I must confess I LFAO at the articles, photos and videos. Reminds me of the time in the mid 70's when a wasted student came out of the stands and high-stepped it with the Marching Chips. Turned out he lived down the dorm hall from me. Guy was pretty bloodied from hopping the fence to avoid capture from the Asst Band Director and Public Safety who tried to chase him down. Hilarious!

Lastly, if I were the OU administration, I'd make the guy wear the mascot outfit one more time. Namely, next Saturday at Marshall. Now THAT would be entertainment! :billgates:

Two guys did that at the UT opener, marching with the RMB. Then they sprinted for the door out of the stadium- in a travesty of stereotypes the black guy made it and the white guy was tackled by a sixtyish, fat security guy. that was the last amusement I found that night.
Apology? Bullsh!t! Punch the phfucker again!

Bravo! Bravo! Bravo!

Encore! Encore! Encore!

That nutsack, represents everything evil about the BCS!
