MAC ooc results this week can be summed up in one word, embarrassing!

How so? Did you really expect any of the MAC teams to win against their opponents this past weekend? They were overmatched in every game.
Didn't expect wins, also didn't expect the beatings that our conference mates took either:

EMU losing by 46 pts to a team that got beat by UConn the previous week by 19. The same UConn team that Temple physically whipped.

Miami losing by 42 pts to a rebuilding Cincy team whose only other win was over lowly FCS IN ST.

CMU losing by 24 to VT was a disappointment more than embarrassment.
The two missed FG before halftime, 9 punts, surrendering 230 rush yards on 28 carries(8.2 per). This was a game that CMU could have hung in on and made a contest out of instead of getting blown out of early.
I didn't expect Toledo to beat Boise but also didn't expect them to lose by 43. The MAC used to pride itself on being a conference that could run the football well, the losses show MAC teams got out rushed 1026 to 347 or almost 3:1. If MAC teams are going to be competitive in OOC games, being able to run the ball better is paramount. Being able to run takes pressure off you D and keeps them on the sidelines.
14-33 overall...that's horrific...looks even worse once you see that more than half our wins came against 1-AA teams and our record is 6-31 vs. 1-A teams.

It's not just the W-L, it's the fact that MAC teams are getting blown out of a large number if not a majority of these games. The 4 games discussed in this thread have the MAC team losing by an average of 39 pts.
Of the 31 losses to FBS opponents, 17 have been by 22 pts or more. 04-jawdrop
Somehow there is actually a conference that has been worse than us....the Sun Belt. They've been getting destroyed by teams as well.

That's what happens when you turn the ball over inside the Boise State 35 yard line 3 times in the first half, and miss a field goal. 03-banghead Even Boise State's head coach said that if Toledo didn't shoot themselves in the foot with turnovers it would have been very close at halftime.

BSU@#2 OK
WMU @ CONN (interesting)
BGSU @ WVU (interesting)
CINN @ Miami
Buffalo @ TN
I think the 5-3 record vs nonBCS division 1 schools (our peers) says a lot about the strength of the conference this year.

I don't know if I'd say worse. According to you...

"14-33 overall...that's horrific...looks even works once you see that more than half our wins came against 1-AA teams and our record is 6-31 vs. 1-A teams."

The Belt has 5 wins against FBS teams and we're favored in three of four ooc games this weekend against FBS'. Nothing to brag about, but I don't see "worse" in there.

SBC OOC GAMES
Tulsa -22 v UNT
FIU -10 v Duke
Troy -18.5 v UAB
MT -12.5 v Memphis
For the nth time, I wish we would stop denigrating the Sun Belt. If there's ANY conference with whose posters we should have cordial relations, it's them.
